Here is a picture I took yesterday at the hotel that me and family had spent the Labor day weekend at. I don't understand why other people would park their car next to a nice car like this.

Hi Albert, hope you're well. That tool was just trying to make a point in a dumb, "must be soooo nice to be rich so I'll mess up your day" kind of way. Nothing you can do but buy a white domestic pick-up with numbers on it so you can get "Truck-spect!" (Truck respect)

Your car looks great by the way, and glad to see you're trying your best to park her in an out of the way spot! However, some bums will always try to sidle up next to the hot girl, no matter what... :)

That's super annoying, but is that also your car? Hardcore points if you have both a Spider and a B in the exact same colour scheme......

Yeah, not my car in the picture, but I still had to snap of picture of this as it was a sad sight seeing what I think was a pretty deliberate action. The nerve of some people...

I am surprised that you think people that don't have "nice" cars are not allowed to park beside "nice" cars.

It is their right to park anywhere they want, just like how and where the "nice" cars park, provided no law is broken.

It's not that I think not "nice" cars should not park next to "nice" cars...I was trying to infer (hint) that the way that the truck is parked next to the 355 is not cool.

If a Rolls Royce Phantom, parked next to the 355 like what is shown in the picture...to me that would also not be cool. Look how the truck is "easing" it's rear into the 355's space, even across the line. That's all that I was trying to infer...sharing a picture that I thought displayed "uncool" behavior.

It has to do with respect, and there's a lack of that in the whole world....
You cannot expect to meet only respectful people.

But I understand your point, I myself can be furious too. Especially when I see someone hit another car, no matter what brand, and they drive away, as nothing happened.

    Savages out there.

If I feel the parking is not appropriate for a "nice" car I leave my Ferraris at home and take my Porsche. Just kidding.

That picture shows somewhere I wouldn't park anything.

Just come out and say "terrible park job by the truck, I hope he doesn't dent the Ferrari beside him".

That's significantly different than what you posted :)

I think you are reading more into my original post than what was meant as it's original intent.

I posted " I don't understand why other people would park their car next to a nice car like this."

Perhaps if you move the "like this" to a different position, you may understand my intent in posting this statement...perhaps this statement will fly better for you:

"I don't understand why other people would park their car LIKE THIS, next to a nice car."

In fact, by using the phrase, "nice car" instead of "Ferrari" or "Lamborghini" I was trying to make this situation less about snobbery and enquiring more about fear about any car that anyone may personally value.

I like the "slide up next to" idea. I've seen the same thing on the road, and in oncoming traffic! It's like the car has some sort of beauty gravity that draws people and vehicles in. Or is it people's hands following their eyes, and when they see it, they sort of steer to it?

Does the picture show the whole story?

How was the vehicle to the left of the truck parked? - It could be that when the truck turned up, that was the only way they could park in the only space left.

Right, Phill. And the truck driver might have shown some consideration to the Ferrari owner. By parking like that, anyone opening the passenger door would avoid denting that F355.

I dunno. Seems less likely to have the passenger door swing open and hit said 355 by bringing that truck in at angle....or the dude was wasted when he parked.

I'll go with the latter ;)

How do you guys know who parked there first. The truck might have been there first. I know a few guys that would park their Ferrari in a spot like that next to the truck. The truck could be his too. I have a big truck and a 355.

I suppose, It is possible that the truck was there first. I doubt that the owner of the truck and the Ferrari are the same person, as this is a parking lot for a hotel and the Ferrari was still in the same place the next day with top still down and the truck was gone. I do remember when I took the picture that the car on the left side of the white truck was not parked close to the white truck and was not impeding into the parking space of the white truck. I posted this picture because what I saw made me feel sorry for the owner of the Ferrari as it seemed obvious to me that the Ferrari owner was particular about getting an end space to lessen his chances of receiving a door ding on his car. I drive my F355 everywhere and I am pretty particular about finding a nice spot for my car. I will park much farther than the closest spots to try and avoid parking in congested spaces where I feel many people don't care as much as I do about keeping my car dent free. In my real world experience, the door dings happen all the time due to people not caring too much about the other peoples cars around them. I am careful, but never take up up two spaces to park any of my cars. despite being careful, my wife's DD, my DD, and even my Ferrari have suffered from people not caring when others park close and when they open their doors...all of my cars currently have door dings in them and it is an amazing PITA to keep correcting them due to other peoples' insensitivity.

Once parked at Walmart Far Far Far away in a completely deserted area of a huge mall.

As I'm walking back to the car, a couple parks right next to me in a Kia Sedona.

As I approached with a baffled look on my face, they began complimenting me on the car. I said: Look I gotta ask, of all the spots that are here and there must be 100 free spots all around, why would you park right next to me for?

His response: I know 100% for sure that you would never ding my door.

    I laughed and left.....

    To answer the question:

Yes I do fear for my F 355. I usually park very far away from other cars & shopping carts and almost always take a spot that is either in the shade or up against the curb so I can only have one side of my car susceptible to door dings...as opposed to both sides.

If at a restaurant. ..I choose a spot to sit where I can watch the car...thus I have a window seat while dining or having a cocktail.

That's the reason I don't bring her out to bars or clubs...the are too many fools out there who will scratch it, hit it, ding it etc.

I drive the Ford. ..and have a better time because I am not worried about the car.

When it's your time, it's your time. I once parked my Alfa Giulia Sprint GT "in perfect safety" two rows from any other cars. When I came out of the mall I found a car had rolled down the slight hill and made a 90* turn to "mate" with my Alfa. When I talked to the driver, he admitted that probably he did not set the parking brake properly, but when my insurance company talked to his, they had invented a "Phantom driver" for some unknown reason.
