Actually Dave I've read about quite a few people doing this. If you read the section you posted. The 120 seconds aplies if you push the fob and then don't start the engine it rearms. If you do start the engine it goes to the run mode, so it doesn't shut down your injection system 120 seconds into your drive. Once it is in run mode they used the door to call it to rearm. So if you wire the door switch solid it never sees the door open and does not rearm. It doesn't matter if you shut your door within 30 seconds or 20 minutes. The system never sees it open and does not rearm. Of course you don't have a door actuated dome light either. I think if you go out and disarm your car and START THE ENGINE, then shut it down and crawl out the window your will see you disabler never rearms. It will only rearm if you use the fob to set the alarm and then you will need to disable with the fob. So you still have the immobilizer functioning if you want it. Of course none of this helps the OP since he can not disarm the immobilizer in the first place. He needs the total immobilizer defeat.
I've stated before, if you sit in the car, do not open the door, the immobilizer will rearm in 120 seconds. I've done this when trying my PIN, many, many times... Your quote is not true, at least on my car-we know they are different.
Maybe your car is one of the Bolivia ones. When trying your pin did you see it reset after you had got the engine started? If never started the second bullet point applies and it resets in 120 seconds. But if it is running it should go by the first bullet point that says the 60 seconds starts AFTER you open the door. If it never sees the door open it never starts the reset timer. I don't doubt if your car doesn't work like this and only half out there do. Like you said, we all Know Ferrari...
O.K. I had to do it. I just ran out and disarmed the immobilizer, STARTED THE CAR, and let it run for a minute. I then shut it off and crawled out the window. So I'll see if mine works this way in say 20 minutes.
One of us had to do it. I hate to argue something too hard that I have only read and not actually tried myself. BUT over 10 minutes in and the light on the dash is still out. It never saw the door open so it never started the reset timer. I'll go try to fire it up with out using the fob in a minute. If I open the door it will start the timer but I'll have it started before it kicks in.
Well Ferrari have been on backorder with no ETA on entire new systems (#176004 superseeds all prior part numbers) since at least April 2014. New immobiliser systems can only be ordered through your local dealer, and to place an order one has to provide proof of identity and ownership to the dealer which is sent to Ferrari Italy for their records. The immobiliser systems are supplied by Italy in response to an order for a specific car and are not "kept in stock" by FNA or Ferrari UK etc. Also immobiliser systems cannot be ordered through the usual parts suppliers such as Ricambi, Ferrari UK etc. M
Yep, Mine must be wired "correct" It fired right up with no fob so if I wired my door switches I would never need the fob unless I wanted to set it. Sorry for the hijack, hopefully by us keeping this at the top more people have looked at it that might have a solution for the OP.
Ferrari immobiliser part #176004 is Bosch F005 VO 0113. (315 Mhz for 360, 575 etc, backward compatible with 355)
You need the fob or the pin to disarm the immobilizer in the first place though, and if you have that, what's the point ? Also if you disconnect the battery the system resets and arms on power up.
Possibly some good info. There are instructions on how to neutralize the immobiliser. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just tried it and I almost pissed myself - I am wrong and you are right, if you start, the immobilizer does not reset without a door open (I just sat in the car for 2 minutes ). But, I wonder what happens if you set the alarm with the FOB? And, my appologies and thank you.
Yep, that's what I said earlier that this conversation wouldn't help the OP at all since he can't get it disarmed in the first place. I have not done this to my car but I know a lot of people who hate having to hit the fob every time they move their car. I'm sure powering down and reconnecting the battery would reset it as you say. It's not a immobilizer defeat, just tricking it into not resting most of the time. I think the point of the mod is that the immobilizer annoys the heck out of some people so they can get rid of the "hassle" but they can still have it when they want it by setting the alarm on the car.
If you set the alarm with the fob it sets the immobilizer so you can still have it if you want it. Like leaving your car in a parking lot somewhere. (so I've read)
I think this is a loser if you want to stay OEM. "1 KEY NO PIN NO FOBS No Start" means..."NEW MOTRONIC ECU NEW IMMOBILIZER PACK"
DAVE I told you....would i lie to you. The good part is that you can still arm your car with the fab if you want to.If you dont want to you just lock your car with the key.The only thing is that your dome light wont work when you open the drivers door.
When i said you had 60sec its the pass door has to be closed in 60 sec or it will reset the alarm. The drivers door will never reset the alarm with the jumper wire in place.
Michael, while you are correct about this trick, I see no advantage. I turn my battery off often when working on the car so it would get reset alot. Also, I like to arm the alarm and I think locking / unlocking the doors with the key is far more of a PITA than simply pressing the FOB button to start the car. Now if I could truly bypass the immobilizer (not alarm), I'd be all over that.
Solution is to remove the OEM unit and fit a Motec ECU or similar and a separate remote locking system. (I know of a 355 with that modification, it was done to improve tuneabilty and engine power - which it did marginally.) M
