For a little background. In 1972 my Dad somehow agreed to sign the note on a two year old 1970 442 W-30, providing, I work, make good grades, make the payments, and should I get out of line he'd take the car. That Olds meant the world.
An associate of my Dad learned about my car interest. He had recently acquired a new Ferrari Dino and called one day offering his car with the condition that he could have mine. Seemed like an easy decision although I worried about my Olds. His words to me while handing over the keys, "keep it under 7800 rpm", if I remember right that was redline. Was the drive of my life, although not one friend was home to show it off too. I later learned that he had only driven the Olds one mile down to a local pub where he spent the afternoon.
A year later amazingly he called again with a 365 GTC4 which he had traded the Dino for. Same deal, which I was happy to make.
As of 2010 that same Olds shares the garage with a very longed for first Ferrari, a 575.
Targa top off, that Dino was the most fun.

I was 25 when I bought my first Ferrari, a 1989 Azzurro Metallic 328 GTS (#81641). I wish I still had it. Still my favorite one to this day.
