Ridiculous in a good way or ridiculous in a " they will never pull it off " way.

Well in that case I think I'll bring my camera :D

I've been to a few HSR events at Daytona but haven't watched them run at night.

This new format will offer plenty of photo opportunities.

I really need to get me a longer lens :)

HSR did a short (3 hour?) enduro at night at Sebring this spring. fun to watch (and hear!) those cars at night.

If reading the description correctly, the cars won't be doing an entire 24 hours.

They'll divide it up by classes, some go out for a couple of hours, then another class goes
out for a couple of hours and this goes on for 24 hours.

Still though it looks like its going to be a pretty cool event.

interesting...six groups, each doing 4 one hour sprints, in a round robin format. I guess that helps the cars, and drivers, survive

I'll probably come down on that Saturday and stick around long enough to watch each group run once. should get some night viewing in too.

I read it as 6 groups with each group doing a total of 4 hours on track over the 24 hours.

First group goes out and does 1 hour then comes in and the second group goes out and does an hour and so on.
After all six groups have done an hour they repeat the process 3 more times to make the 24 hours.

They say they will make every effort to try and keep the transition between groups ASAP so as to minimize the lull in action on the track.

As a spectator I'd rather see all groups on the track at once but that's not very realistic.

    edit: ya beat me :)

This is recalling the days of the IMSA Finale event from the old days. The 24 Hour event combined
with the TransAm is a great idea which shows someone at HSR is using their
    head.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate as I may recall at least two finales (one in 1996 I think it was)
when the entire weekend was a virtual monsoon as a weather system moved in off the Atlantic and
    made the infield a swamp.

It's HSR and not the FIA. So, I'd think pretty good. Probably virtually unlimited to the paddock and grandstands. Pits, not so much when hot.

from my HSR experience at Sebring that's accurate; a ticket is also a paddock pass, only hot pits are restricted (and even then, it didn't seem particularly enforced at Sebring)
