Great to know these amazing machines can hit that speed.

    I am a coward.

That's an awesome vid, doesn't look reckless, the driver seems to slow down as needed. I wish I could drive somewhere at those speeds in the US. It goes to demonstrate that the F355 is a fast and robust machine. It also affirms my theory that the F355 is the ultimate sports car for road use ie: it's as fast or faster than anyone can actually drive in public. What's the point of a 458 Italia or any 500+ hp car? It can't be used. Besides, to me nothing is more beautiful, or sounds better, or is more fun to drive than a F355. I've driven the Scud and the 458 on a track and that's where they belong, but on a back road give me a 355 every time.

Imagine what that must have sounded like for any of the drivers he passed, especially if they had their window down :)

On my way to the Nurburgring a few weeks back in my 348 Spyder....
(the roads in Germany were empty and lane discipline is very good)

    Roof Up 155mph
Roof Down 130mph (above this and it just too windy)
held that speed for a fairly long time.

and it also managed... 1mph for 1hr on the Brussels ring road. (i admit to being a little worried about the temps/clutch but all was fine)

In total did 1100 miles round trip, a trackday at Spa, and carried enough luggage for a week.

So much for all the stories of breaking down and catching fire.

Below a video taken on a Friday afternoon on the German Autobahn A9, which is not a straight line at all. Lot of traffic, only a few spots to go a bit faster. The iPhone on the left shows mph via GPS.
The video was taken with a GoPro and the “fish-eye effect” removed, that gives me nice long arms. It was for me to test the camera, but I thought that I could share it here.

The manual F355GTS of 1994 is equipped with a Fuchs-Exhaust. The highest speed was reached at around 5:00 min.

Awesome! Too bad we don't have an equivalent highway system here in the US. Even if we did, the morons here don't know how to drive and won't yield to faster vehicles in the passing lane.

    Sweet!!!

I do that every sat early am going to my south shop down the 5 here in Orange county
355 spider 160 top down gets a little loose hehehe
Never tried it with top down but a few miles at 140 with the top down sure does clean out all the dirt in the interior. First few minutes you get it in your eyes

    :)

Check your manual. Mine warned not to exceed a lower speed than that with top up. You run the risk of ripping it off. I did about 130 myself in mine and I know that was too much. Top down has no limit.

Sorry I don't have the car any more, but I do remember reading the posted limits in the owner's manual somewhere. I did not know there was a difference until I read it. In my experience it was just a disclaimer, but one never wants to test that stuff out in their car, eh?

Checked the owner's manual, it wasn't there. Maybe it is in one of the other print items that came with the car. I distinctly remember reading the warnings.
