I think my priorities are in order:

    - parking break
    - steering wheel
    - seats
    - carpet
    - rear grill and lights
    - wheels
    - luggage compartment

    Agree?

Sorry Michael, your thread has turned into re-manufacturing the badges for these challenge cars.

And yes, sounds about right. Reliability, driveability, then the minor stuff like trunk carpet. I think you can find one out of a salvaged car that went up in flames, as the front ends are usually pretty intact.

    I would go this way:

    - parking brake
    - seats
    - rear grill and lights
    - wheels
    - carpet
    - steering wheel
    - luggage compartment

    Hi guys!

Yes. My nick here at Fchat is magnum (TonyRR at my 3D printed stuff web page in Shapeways), and I'm from the 308 corner. I've been talking with Bruce, @plugzit, and I've started 3D designing the 348 Challenge badge for the rear lid, that it will be 3D printed. I've already designed one 348 GTS Competizione badge for another Fchatter, and a special GR4 for a Koenig.

The badge will be a replica of the original, with inner white plastic inserts. It will be made in black matte steel -any other finishes available, gold, nickel...-. You can sand it and paint it to have a perfect surface finish, and paint the center groove in white, red or yellow.

I will design too a white plastic insert -for sure it can be yellow or red too-, just if you don't want to paint the central groove; just pry the insert on the groove and you're done.

If you have any question, just let me know. Keep an eye on my page just to know what I'm doing.

In a few days I will have a render to show the result. Many thanks for watching!

    Cheers

I do have the rear badge on my 348 Challenge. And, yes, the insert groove color is yellow.

In fact, I took the car out for exercise this evening, because I was thinking about it today because of this thread. What a car!

Then the 348 is it buddy. The only Challenge car originally streetable. The rest need conversion and I think even a VIN.

I think the 95 355 had a vin. Either way is fine with me

Either a '95 355 Challenge or a later car that was converted to challenge spec using the kit would work.

FYI, my groove insert is orange. Orange on TB and yellow on TS?

I was going by memory; come to think of it, the insert may be orange. :) I'll look tomorrow and followup.

Pic of your car. Difficult to tell. I thought it was orange-gold in person? But not yellow. I could be wrong.

    Hi again.

I've managed to design the 348 Challenge badge, but now I'm struggling with the printing design rules to see if it's printable in Matte Black Steel. The rules are very tight!!!
You can see the result on the attached render. The white inner lines are the plastic groove inserts that I've designed too, to insert on the central groove of the badge.

I hope to solve the thickness matter in a few days.

    Thanks Randy!

I hope that everything goes fine with the 3D printing.

Another render of the badge, with the letters in yellow and refined borders.
The yellow plastic groove inserts are produced separately. You can see the two parts separated, metal badge and plastic inserts.

    See the attached render.

I've attached a sample of how it looks the plastic groove insert on a keychain. The Matte Black Steel looks like this.

Waiting for the printing green light...

    Cheers

I've just finished the 348 Challenge badge.

Now is ready for 3D printing. Can I post here the link?

    Thanks

Just ordered from Tony's website the new 348Challenge badge. Thought I'd never find one. Last one I saw was asking $1000!!! His is $105. Shoulda ordered 2. Finally, I'll have one.

I ordered a couple. I clicked the "buy a set" button which should include the inserts but let's see if it comes like that. I did that once with my 550 keychain but it came without the insert. Anyways, Tony's products are great so I'm looking forward to having these.

I ordered the 'set' too, and hope it includes the inserts. If not, I'll either paint the insides gold, or order again, with another badge to keep with the other parts. A second 'just in case' part. I ordered his keychain as well. Very cool piece indeed.

Now... about attaching them in the correct spot and how to go about it. What kind of adhesive would you suggest?

Nice Randy! Many thanks for the compliments and your purchase.

About attaching the badge to the car use 3M double side tape or something like this, the strongest. A good brand.
I will dig a little bit on it and I will tell you.

You don't need to glue the groove inserts. But you can do it, no problem.
