Both will do well and prosper in the coming years - Thanks to the efforts of John Elkann and Sergio - IMO
Actually, thanks to the many Ferrari customers who have put up with a lot of BS and will continue to do so.
Can someone please give a simple breakdown of all the brands that FIAT owns? http://www.fiatspa.com/en-US/group/brands/Pages/default.aspx Why isn't Ferrari listed here?
Agreed on all points. I would add: - Rename the "LaFerrari" to the F70 (I still can't believe they went with such a stupid name) - Build a $90k v6T on the Alpha 4C platform. - Drop the FF completely. Ferrari's don't need 4 seats. - The California T did fix the ugly butt.
The FF's issues have nothing to do with the number of seats. If you want to expand, or even maintain, the customer base two + twos are needed.
Only on Fchat would people talk out of both sides of their mouths and say it makes sense. exclusivity! But we want shorter wait lists The cars are too expensive! But we want dealers to not mark up over MSRP even though they could get much more. Let OWNERS be the ones to flip. The cars are ugly! But sales are at all time highs. The race team sucks! But Luca brought with Schumacher what Enzo could only dream of accomplishing. Bring back manual gearboxes! But we want the car faster than others using DCT. One mans "butt ugly" is another man's gorgeous. When the 458 introduced the front wing mustache it was panned on Fchat. Now it's iconic. Others copy it in one form or another. What is pretty or ugly depends in what point in time you are standing in. Luca was far from perfect. But he saved the company. He restored the F 1 team. Maybe it was time for him to go but a lot of people here simply will not admit what he did to bring Ferrari from some very dark days to the respect owners feel when they drive their cars today.
You gotta love the Ferrari lore. Most responses when people buy other brands are "it doesn't have that Ferrari sound or feel or whatever". Now a change in leadership and philosophy and most seemingly are going against the very thing they hold true so they may get a Lf or some future special limited uber rare car they probably will never drive due to fear of it losing value. Can't have it both ways. F-cars are either suppose to be exclusive and ownership unfair and abusive. Or they become like ever body else, nice quality cars that are fun to drive, but in the end are just cars. They are the only company imo that has been able to operate on the mafia principal of F you pay me and had customers lined up to cough. Enzo's desire to win at all costs and if you got the money we can build one have fueled the Ferrari history and made the brand intriguing to those who really love cars. We all want a Ferrari of some sort and are willing to jump through whatever hoop or work a little harder than most to make it happen.

Sergio M. has more than enough on his plate than trying to run Ferrari. Watch the 60 minutes episode on the guy. Luca or his successor have done a stellar job for the brand. With a brand like Ferrari anyone can sell more units...... because they have "it"... and "it" was developed & nurtured & brought to fruition by Enzo & Luca (and maybe Marco).
