    +1 :)

As Tcar mentioned, if we could get some pix of them together at 1000' AGL, it would be thread of the month at the very least........

    Cheers,
    Ian

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

It looks like an R/C to me too. Doesn't quite look real somehow. The first time I sat in the Eagle, I thought I was sitting in an R/C plane.

Looks more like a real plane in this pic...

I had wanted to try and push the Eagle under the nose of the 747. But there was a tug hooked up by the time I got the Eagle over to it. Not sure if it would have fit all the way, but could have got it under the nose section where the fuse curves up.

This pic is a bit out of focus, but you can see the height.

    Fantastic stuff!

That they both fly is pure, total edification for the guys that get, fundamentally, Bernoullis theorem. :)

    Thanks again for posting,
    Cheers,
    Ian

That is such a cool picture! At first glance i though it was a 1/3 r/c model.

I have test flown a few r/c eagles for people through the years but, have never flown a full scale one.

I have flown a full scale T-6 though and was surprised at how agile it was. I can't even imagine how light and agile your 1:1 Eagle must feel like to fly.

Lou- Had not looked closely before and just realized she is wire braced. You do not see that too often nowadays. Most of them are cantilever now.

That last picture is crazy. Looks like a model.

I was checking out the google maps view of VCV. What are those other 747 parked there, ex-Qantas?

Yeah, a lot of ex Quantas 747s. A few of their 737s also if I remember correctly. A UAL 757 came in while I was there.

    Sad to see really.

Looks like a few L1011's too. Is that place a graveyard or just a temporary storage?

Some are temporary storage. Others are being made into beer cans. I saw one of those unmanned UAVs flying while I was there. Pretty cool to see.

neat video, but not even one barrel roll?
Isn't there an FAA Reg that every Christen Eagle flight has to have at least one inverted maneuver? :p

Have you done a knife edge yet?

Haven't done too much acro. A few loops, a few rolls. A little inverted. Nothing serious. No knife edge yet. I've heard some of the aggressive manuevers aren't so great on the engine (crankshaft?).

    :D :D :D

If you were allowed (I realize you aren't in the "work plane") - you could have made a hilarious Youtube video "A comparison of landing 2 aircraft at VCV".

A guy working out there took this video and sent me the YouTube link. I'm not much of an "in front of the camera" guy, but the video shows the planes together.
