As the title states:
Your survey is missing one option. "I have never owned a F1 and know it is great fun but worry that it is a bottomless pit"
Had an intermittent issue in which the upshift paddle occasionally stopped working, forcing me to hit the Auto button. After three dealerships tried and failed to diagnose the problem, I eventually was able to fix it myself. Turns out a can of Deoxit contact cleaner spray for the paddle microswitches was all that was needed. Haven't experienced any mechanical or hydraulic problems with the F1 system in over 14 years of ownership.
At a little over 52,000 mi. my 355 F1 transmission started acting up and then would shift only into N,1,2 and R. Took it into the shop, they put the SD1 on it, bled the system, checked for leaks, and it worked like new. Had some other maintenance done at the same time with a total bill of $525. Needless to say, this is good reason to give a positive review to the F1.
