So I just picked up a 348 TS. The drivers side window doesn't operate. I pulled out the switches, cleaned them and the wire harness. I swapped switches/harness. Both switches are good (light up and operate passenger window when plugged into the (red) passenger harness. White (drivers) harness appears to have no power in the wire harness. Any thoughts on the next point to investigate? A bad ground for the drivers side window motor somewhere? Thanks
Thanks guys. I didn't see any obviously broken ones, but I'll pull that harness and check all those pins/connections.
He is a link I did that should help you out. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355/245239-348-window-wiring-switch-diagnoses.html
My 1994 348 spider driver side window will go down but not come up. I have hooked 12 Volts to the motor which will make it go up but when I swapped the driver switch to the passenger door it worked fine so not sure what else to do. Any suggestions?
Tim, Did you cut the wires as a whole (thus leaving hte harness inthe door), resest all the wires/pins in the plastic connector and then splice them back together or did you splice on a whole new plastic connector that did not have any comprimised wires at the plastic connection? Haven't gotten to this project yet and am kind of wondering which would be easier.
Pop out the switches and spray plastic safe electrical contact cleaner inside the switches and work the button back and forth. The switches have two holes on each end where you can spray into. I had the same problem today. Worked for me.
There can be several culprits when windows don't function correctly, but even if you find it's not due to the door jamb plug wiring, that is such a common problem, it seems almost inevitable. I personally think anyone with a 348 would be wise to go ahead and rewire the the thing as shown above, otherwise you're sure to get stuck at some point in the future with rain coming down and a window that won't roll up, or trying to lock the door to go do something, and it not work.
