Yep, I see now, mine sits farther up. Man, good to know it is just your mounts.

Your rubber slinky boot is all down on the cross member. Mine has a minor gap between.

Probably the problem you are lucky you stopped driving.

You might want to confirm through the manual octopus check after you fix the motor mounts that everything is synced. Awesome that you found it and good thing you didn't hit a big bump while shifting.

Scott, I bet that is the problem. That damn cross member and the failed motor mounts can give all kinds of fits. What you show is not good.

...and wowzer... I might have to remove F1moving from my ignore soon ;) Thanks for contributing instead of antagonizing

They are most definatly failed and the F1 actuator is WAY too close. The only question is did the actuator suffer any harm.... If it did I have some decent machine tools and some skill, and if it is out of my realm my mentor could build one of those from a billet of aluminum. I certainly hope it is fine of course.

Any tips on motor mount swap in situ? It looks doable but a minor pita.

Where did you order new mounts from?

    You bet!

I replaced the motor mounts and the car now performs like new, I am going to add motor mounts to the major service parts list.

That's awesome as time goes catching symptoms such as this just keep saving us all more money to buy other cool stuff for our cars.

I went through this same scenario last month after some hard redline shifts. They sag bad and eventually bang around, good you caught it as well!

After getting everything back in place it occurred to me that it was possible that the F1 system might have been knocked out of calibration to some degree, some shifts were not completed due to the linkage hitting the cross member and the system thought it was in a gear it wasn't in several times. I ran through the self learn procedure in the service manual and it does seem to have had a beneficial outcome, the down shifts on deceleration are more positive and the system feels better overall.

Lastly my CEL is now on because of the F1 faults, and unless there is new information the only way to clear those is with the SD2/3. If I am going to have to take it to the shop for that, I may as well do the 360 pump swap and then take it so they can do the bleed and clear the codes at once. I will also check clutch thickness and see if that might be due as well, but I doubt it.

I dont think that the F1 codes show up on the obd11 for your CEL.
I had every transmission code in the book when my accumulator had a problem at no time did my CEL come on its a separate system.

Could be, I assumed that it would, but I was mostly thinking out loud. I will dump the codes this week and see what it in there.

No ECU codes in the Motronic for the F1 system.

The codes are available if you plug the F1 ECU into an SD computer though. When I bought my car I had every code the system could come up with :)

What re-learn procedure did you use? Oh snap, I'll go get my WSM and do my research.

I have found that it is much better to set your PIS cold than warm.
