Oh yes it is. It's been confirmed.

It also has a special modification for the inset rear license plate and the bumpers are mounted identically. It even has the Le Belle Macchine tech sticker on it!

    What are the odds?

The door panels and side rubber are also available. Call me if you want them and the proper seats.

Why do you want a newer one? While many folks think that "newer is better" the stuff that was added on for US Spec was a deterrent. What you want is one as close to Euro spec as you can get
and WITHOUT the hood vent, you know those were a serious problem for cooling, right?

People may not like the bumpers but as for the rest there's not really that much difference and it can easily be remedied. Putting the SS bumpers on a 75-77 US car is not so trivial.

I've done actual field tests, plenty of them with and without the hood vent @ 100F and the best I can say is that at speed it made no difference. Around town with much better fans perhaps it would make for an improvement having the vent. I was only concerned about the issue at speed and under load.

My car has never boiled over but it has demonstrated a temperature issue at speed while under load in warmer temperatures say above 82F.

If you're going to drive the car normally and not like I did racing around in hot weather it shouldn't be an issue if the car is healthly and had a decent radiator upgrade as well.

    So do I.

Then explain the recessed license plate area and the le Belle Macchine tech sticker on the window. Second request ...

Also 936 has never been to that event.

I also doubt there's another car with that modification.

Everything else fits the evidence I know of and it has been confirmed by his former partner.

I can come to no other conclusion unless Gullwing Motors has been playing around with photos from another car?

Roberto, I do not know what to say in regards to the sticker or recessed plate. I do know though that the car does not run at this point, nor has it been run in almost 10 years.

Ken there is much that you do not know about THIS car.

I have presented evidence all you have is "I know the guy". Come back with something else more substantial and definitive and I'd be happy to consider it.

Talk about two completely different sort of cars and yet ... together the sizes are similar in appearance though the Monte Carlo has been stretched in appearance a bit. I think the Bora weights almost 1,000 lbs more?

I bet most Bora owners who like to drive their cars a bit would want to know about those wheels. The tire selection for stock rims is rather small these days.

My thoughts exactly, not only for the tires, but the wheels look rather good on the car as well. Any info on this setup?

Way too much of this thread really belongs in the Bora thread and not here where it will never been seen again.

But ... in the maserati section a couple of efforts are underway to create new 17" wheels one is based upon the original's design. Just be aware that any aftermarket designs can possibly have a very open looking design and 17-18" wheels which reveal very ancient 15" brake hardware don't look all that good. BBS like basket weave designs have looked good on these cars. I think Walter pointed out a nice set done years ago in Germany. I saw those in person on a Khamsin and a Bora. I thought they looked very nice.

Fair enough, maybe I've confused it with a similar car.

Here are a couple of photos of Bora 1046 when I owned it in 2002. It was just in okay condition as it had been previously owned by someone not known for maintaining his cars.

Looking at the current photos and knowing a bit of this car's history ... I would run in the opposite direction.

The Bora is a great car - had mine 30 years. Raced it in Targa Tasmania 2 years - early 4.7 with no bonnet vent and no overheating issues. Very reliable.
Greatly undervalued but not a nimble sports car - more a long distance very fast tourer with a beautiful shape. Hope you get one.

And yet ... there were over $100K in "repair" receipts and that was BEFORE any of the work it's latest owner "lavished" on it.

I have no idea how that front end damage happened, the rear hatch yes ... the missing seats and door panels yes ...

One has to wonder what it is about certain cars that seem to seek out bad owners?

That's just where my limited research (and admitted ignorance) has lead. I will adjust accordingly.

It's really about the car though. I'm looking for a very high quality driver, not a museum piece.
A car that's straight in body and soul that can be driven, maintained, and enjoyed.

In the research I've done the Bora like all performance cars, has had its problems and issues identified and documented. They should have been addressed by now if the owners were like minded Enthusiest. I want that car; the one that's been knowledgeably maintained and loved!

that car exists. No question about it. It's out there looking for a new home.
I've invested numerous years in the search to find some of the cars I own. Not easy to find the good ones.

In my case I have other cars I want to experience so eventually a car will be someone else's new pride and joy. As hard as it has been to see some go (recently my 97 993TT) I do like looking that guy in the eye when I tell him he's getting an awesome car. That feels good too.
