That's precisely why I haven't sunk any hardware into the floor just yet. I'd like to try out a few projects before committing to drilling my floor. I'm thinking some sort of female hardware can be found to sink into the floor so when I do need to roll the lift to an alternate location, I don't have studs sticking up waiting to flatten tires or trip me up.

Dave, I may be leaning towards a 4 poster. I think storage is gonna be my primary goal.

You are still better off handling the floor as I said coz then you are covered both ways. IIRC, you won't buy the lift till next year and you may change your mine 10 times

I am deff doing the floor as you designed, and you are probably right about the lift. I am waiting to hear from Josh from last week.

I'd love to do that to my garage but I built a bar/rec room over it. I guess I could cut a hole and use it as a viewing port for the car below.

Yesterday I took all of my tool hangers off the wall and relocated that stuff in the basement (yard stuff and I've subbed that work out now) tonight the electrician came over and pulled the lights and other wiring. We are now ready to start taking down drywall. Well, I'll pull the lift hydraulic lines down tomorrow.

I needed to do this before I gave it too much thought and changed my mine. It's a small job so I'm letting the guys bill T&M. I think I should be under $5k all said and done, hopefully a bit less.

Plus I want this done before the weather goes to crap.

I received a price today from a local garage door company. Parts and Labor to re-track garage door up roof line = $400.00. The kit would have cost me around $300.00.

Easy decision, I'm having the local company handle it.

Remember, I'm not doing this new. From scratch, it's probably only $100. My $400 does not include an opener. I may add it but never had one on that door

Got under way today. We ran into a few snags such as some more wires in the ceiling joists for outside lights that my electrician and I never thought about. That slowed us down a bit as the electrician had to come back. But, he came over once the drywall was down so he was actually able to finish his rough. Then we discovered the framer did not nail the rafters to the walls, only the ceiling joists we are removing so we needed to install brackets.

I can't tell you how many times I've looked at my garage ceiling trying to decide if I want to do what you are doing, or kicking myself for not thinking about when we bought the house

    Looking forward to more pics!
