Tried to trade my 08 Scud for a new Viper and the Ferrari dealers buy prices to the Dodge dealers ranged from 146-165...I will never trade my ugly silver scud at those prices. I was told Argento was an off or unpopular color as 1 reason. LOL

If you were buying one, the dealer would tell you have to pay a premium for Argento

While i am not currently in the market I noticed last year when I bought mine that the 2009 were selling at a premium to the 2008 and that red was selling better then non red and Rossa Scuderia was the highest price and seemed the hardest to find .. It also seemed that the lowest price were black (other then odd ball colors) which I don't get because I like the black cars.. also Factory stripe cars were selling higher then non stripe cars,,alcantara higher then leather etc..
So with that a low mile rosso scuderia with non leather interior and factory stripe (which is what I bought ) seemed to be the highest price .. at that time and probably now...
I paid 186 for mine.. a year or so ago...from an Fchat owner

There are low priced cars as well as high priced cars out there. Individual data points like this tell us little about the market as a whole. As I indicated above, the average ask on AutoTrader (over 20 scuds) is over $190k now.

Asking prices are just that, a starting point and negotiations usually go lower on pricing.
You can ask what you want but depreciating assets are fighting a losing battle

I agree that asking prices are not sales prices. The problem is we don't have data on what the sales prices end up being. Asking prices, on the other hand, are easy to collect and at least give you a ballpark idea on what cars are likely to sell at. Comparing apples to applies, people are asking more now than they were a year ago. You can interpret that fact as you wish.

As for the cars being depreciating assets, we all know that Ferraris, like other exotics, eventually bottom and then start appreciating. Not saying that this is happening with the scud, but I'm not sure these cars are still depreciating.

Anyway, my point was that it's pointless to identify the asking price of a single car as evidence of the value of that type of car in general. For every scud with an asking price under $160k there is a scud with an asking price over $200k.

There are a VERY limited number of cars there.
When supply is low, prices rise.
The US adheres to a different equation on the supply side....

This mean nothing without the specifics of the car, especially mileage, color, condition, history (and that's for starters)

True. Ive still got my first Fcar, red 348 and after added a yellow Scud. I dont think I would ever but another Red Fcar........ Plus Im loving the yellow Fcars at the moment. A black 599 would be great.

It seems everyone has a red one. Nice to be different.....

True. But 9 months ago there were 2 Scuds for sale in Czech Republic for around 90k Euro, 3 others were around the 100K Euro, 5 total. Now there are 4 for sale. All priced at exactly 109k euro.

Of course condition, millage all play factors. But in Czech they have gone up 10% on the asking price. I know in Slovakia they are more expensive over there.

Seems to me prices have been stable in the US for the past 12 months or so. Red coupes w stripes and around 7-10k miles seem to be in the 160-180k range.

Non-red sit longer for sure based on my observations.

You guys are like a bunch of old women..If your not a buyer who gives a crap what people are asking. If you ARE a serious buyer its the same old story. Do your homework, get your financing in order, find the car that appeals to you and then negotiate with the seller.
Each car in the 08-09 series will have its own set of pros and cons TO YOU. YOU have to decide if the car fits your needs in many categories including price of course.
You cant go by 08 Scuds are 160-180k and 09s are 180-200K+ as there are many factors in those price ranges..

Many of us are owners and we are interested in what the cars are worth in case we may want to sell. That said, I agree that general impressions as to what cars are selling for are irrelevant, and often inaccurate. At least if you look at an average as I provided above, you can consider objective data.
