Is there a ratio in regards to mileage vs clutch wear? ie 2k miles = 5% I understand driving conditions are a factor but just curious if anybody has figured this out.
Average seems to be somewhere around 30k miles for clutch life, you can extrapolate from there. Mine made it to 42k. Ymmv.
the cost of $1k to $1500 plus the 1 hr it takes to swap one out...who cars...relatively speaking of coarse... drive it till it goes no more, replace and repeat..
I have 65K total miles, 5K of which took place on road race tracks, and the original clutch is still just fine. Clutch wear has absolutely nothing to do with miles and everything to do with how much power you put thought the clutch when it is in the friction zone.
I have put about 30K on an F1 and am at about 50% wear. As everyone has correctly stated, it all depends on how you drive it.
On EBay 9-18-2014 there was 1999 355 with less than 10K miles, and they said "new" clutch just installed ... Go figure ?
I can install a new clutch even after 1 mile, but was it necessary, or maybe other reasons like a a burst oil seal. clutch could last at least 60.000 miles
