So I'm sure we're all used to the attention. I'm an antisocial ****** so it's a side of the car I don't enjoy that much -wish I could just pump gas in peace!

A couple days ago I was making a left turn under a bypass and a 93+ Mazda RX7 (I've had two of them, they are awesome, no hate for that car!) was to my right in the right left turn lane. I have straight pipes on my 355. We both reached a red light and my spider senses kicked off where I can tell someone is trying to talk to me in the other car.

The guy was older and sarcastically was saying how impressed he was with "what I did back there". At first I was completely clueless as to what he was talking about, then it hit me that he thought I was showing off and revving my engine or something.

He must not have realized that straight-piped 355 + overpass = loud!

Ugh. This is actually just a small sample of random hate I get while driving this car ("daddy's car" comments, people riding my ass, ricer flybys from mustangs, etc.).

But last night I at least had a bright moment. I was returning to my car after walking around and enjoying the amazing weather and some Starbucks (don't worry; black coffee, nothing fancy or loaded with sugar). There was a couple admiring the car and the dad was holding his son saying "nice car!".

As I went to open the door I just gave them a smile, then the dad then asked if he could take a picture of his son in the car and I was like "sure!". I can imagine if I was his age I'd be really excited. The mom said he just loves cars. He had a big grin on his face, so that was a nice fuzzy warm moment for me.

Here in the UK, we can suffer from nasty sods, its a very nasty trait we have.
Were as when i am in france or italy i have never experienced it, only enthusiastic onlookers.

Drive a 911turbo, rarely did anyone pay any attention to me when I had one of those. People just think it's another Porsche.

I was at the hospital one day and this bloke approached me. He was covered in Tatts,a ring through his nose and I though here we go I'm gonna get mugged! Then he asked me would I take his terminally ill buddy for a drive as he loved cars so we got him out of the cancer ward and I took him for a run round the block. The smile on his face was priceless and for me it was a pleasure to give a dying human being a little bit of happiness. Amen

That's a great story Steve! Makes all owners proud and does us justice. You made a good deed, bless you.

Over here in Portugal I do get the occasional thumbs up, but for every thumbs up I get 100 negative reactions whenever I go by. Negative reactions are all you can imagine: One guy actually stood his head out of his car and waved his hands in protest just because I drove by. I was making my way from point A to point B and briedfly drove by a secondary road near a low rent neighborhood and he seemed to be protesting to see a Ferrari there, it was an offense and he felt agravated. I also get all sorts of idiots trying to race me and all kinds of 1.2 and 1.4 cars taking swerves at me as if we were at Le Mans.

Whenever I stop for gas, the station stops as if George Clooney or the President has just pulled over. Maybe because people are also pumping gas and aren't closed in the privacy of their cars driving, they're now face to face with me, I get lots of praise and thumbs up. Go figure. Never had a single negative reaction when pumping gas and/or face to face with anyone.

Wish I could say people enjoy seeing a Ferrari, but they don't over here, as a general rule. I'm a very private person and enjoy being under the radar, so it kind of bugs me all the unwanted attention I get. The way to counter this is to drive late at night (no one on the street) and strenghten bonds with the Ferrari community, my tribe.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

Agree with the UK sentiment, been here all my life but must say it can be a real nasty place to live, many over here seem to be completely eaten up with envy, they've got it really bad and deep, particularly prevalent on the roads and in relation to motor vehicles.

Over the years I've had several cars maliciously damaged, paintwork keyed, broken into, wheels and stereos stolen etc etc. Mainly in or around any big city's, although not exclusively, unfortunately such scumbags often venture out to the countryside.

I was thinking of Toyota-stickers, to cover the horse's (even the one on the steering wheel), and the 'F355 Berlinetta'-thing replaced by 'Toyota MR2'….;)

All this just to please other people and avoid questions….you just say 'well, I did the building in 20 years…it's running very cheap though!' Than you get 1 thumb down and 99 thumbs up.

    Yep I don't like human's also :)

I mostly get 80 year old ladies looking at my car telling me they had one back when they were still able to drive a stick car.

Younger crowd could give a rats ass about any car much less a Ferrari

    LA is funny sometimes

I get as many headturns in my Porker 993 these days, as in my 348. Values of 993's have gone crazy in the UK. Wish I could say the same for the 348, I'm still waiting for it to get to what I paid well over 10 years ago, guess I've got a long wait still.

I have either gotten no comments or positive ones when I drive any of my cars. 993 values have gone crazy in the US as well.:) Don't sell your 993. Who knows where they can end up? If I do get a question, it usually is, "that is a beautiful car, what year is it?

I actually get way more attention around here in the 348 then I have in the 355. A lot of people glance over the 355 and their mind says mustang or corvette and they don't look twice. The 348 with the side rakes seems to register Ferrari more for people and they check it out. (at least in this area) I've never got any negative attention, just friendly, curious people wanting to check them out.

Many moons ago when I lived in Europe, I had a very limited production Ghia (400+/-) No one paid any attention in France, but in Italy, it LITERALLY stopped traffic. If you know Roman traffic, imagine being the number one car stopped at a red light, and then it turns green. Whoops, can't move there are 10 people standing in front of the car - over and over again. (And probably even worse, imagine being in a Fiat behind me.)

I've only had positive experiences. People in this town love the car and take photos and compliment all the time. I have a few young (15ish) guys that are groupies. They see me everywhere I go (Maserati and 355) and they post photos of my cars all over Instagram. Totday I saw then at a C&C and let them sit in my car and take photos (along with a few other kids). I might have been the only one letting kids do this. They had ear to ear grins. It's a nice feeling to brighten a young person's day.

My neighbours kids are quite young I'd say 10 or less and they have for months always give me the thumbs up and I always smile and wave. The other day I gave them the horn and you should have seen their grins. Boys will be boys.

Kids are always the best. The look you see on their faces is pure authentic joy. Let them enjoy it and share it proudly! Haters can go hate themselves for being cookie cutter, bogus message, I'm supposed to have a BMW/Porche/Audi - lame! Yawn. Even our 20 year old cars blow away the competition.
