+1... Previous owner had spacers installed on my F355 and the handling was inconsistent. I had them removed shortly after buying the car. The lug bolts seemed to loosen up quicker and have to be retightened more often. Good for show and not for go.
Had mine from Hill engineering right from when he first started to make them, maybe 10 years ago or more. 11mm front and rear. Never ever had any problems with handling or tyre wear ect. Better handling and stance. I have had them for over 10 years and never had a problem, be sure to set the suspension up with the spacers fitted and not as an after thought. But Hey what was good enough for Michael Schumachers factory equiped with spacers, 1997 355 GTB, is good enough for me
As long as you have the corresponding longer bolts ........ going up to 15mm spacer thickness should not be a problem ............ I am running hill '355 specific' 11mm spacers in the rear and after several years ... all has been good so far ............ but I did have to get them re-anodized in nero ....
spacers look like crap - don't do it. If pininfarina wanted the wheels to stick out like a getto wagon they would have designed it that way. Why not add 22's and spinners?
I really doubt pinninfarina had anything to do with the mechanicals and wheel offsets, they designed the body, ferrari did the rest , and the goofy wheel offset . They need spacers , otherwise they have a 68 oldsmobileish look . Just my opinion though Dave , doesn't mean anything bad if you like it the stock way , its your car ! ( notice iv'e been trying very hard to be nonconfromtational ? Lol) as far as safety with spacers , buy good ones and there wont be a problem . Porsche factory equipped cars with them , my 930 had ones on the rear , had to near an inch and a half thick Lets have poll , spacers or no spacers , and their affect on value ,LOL " serenity now "
I lowered the car by changing the nut level on the factory suspension. The inset of the wheels do look good but lowering it accentuated the inset. I bought the Hill Engg 11mm front and 15mm rear. I was worried the wheels would stick out too far. Actually, the wheels sit perfectly - As long as the car is lowered IMHO. The wheel position effect with spacers is similar to my 100% stock F430 Spider. I will post pics if interested.
Don't want them to stick out....Im thinking 15mm on the read to fill in the wheel well a little more. I think Ill leave the fronts as is.......just looking for a better stance.
That is the reason I put 11mm spacers on the rear ..... it fills the wheel well a bit more and does not stick out. IMO 11mm is just about right. But I have seen 15mm still not cross the "stick out" threshold. The hill 355 specific spacers have every other hole oversize,. Which accommodates the rubber locators on the mounting interface. The picture does not show it though ... Ferrari Parts : WS015 2 x 15mm Spacers + 10 Long Bolts (TYPE 1) : Ricambi America
Even without the spacers , the factory look is ok. , its just from a certain angle that the offset looks odd , just a little help with the spacers cures it .its even more noticable on the 348's , less so on the later models , but the spacers are almost a must on earlier models . Imho " serenity now "
Put the front ones on to, not just the rear. Trust me it looks better, way better and gives the car a better stance. After all your not driving a dragster are you
I saw a pic of one members car on here.. Its yellow with aftermarket wheels and lowered with a lot of toe in the rear. Anyone know whos car that is? I wanted to ask him if hes running spacers and what offset.. car looks amazing. I was just looking at my car this weekend and was going to ask about spacers...can some of you guys running spacers post pics?
