I know last year one of the football teams took a large block of rooms. If you want the best barbecue try Franklin if you have time to wait in line for hours. lol

Do the hotels offer shuttle service to and from the track? Do they run every hour or so?

Franklin's is very good but it isn't the best, just the most hyped. The immigrant hipsters around here find out something is good and then anoint it "the best thing ever / only thing worth a damn". Kinda like the In & Out Burger syndrome.

Sorry, though. I'm not telling y'all what the best is. I don't want them to end up with long lines. Hint, though, there are multiple food trucks/trailers that are as good or better than Franklin's, and some full-sized establishments as well.

It is kinda funny to drive by and watch all the fools stand in line for 2 hours in the heat though.

From my experience I stand in downtown, it's easier for me side visibility but also to access everything I want

Same thing happens in Chicago with popcorn places. Popcorn? Really?

I say, let them eat cake.

There were a couple of places that a Texan suggested off the beaten track that's why I posted ask some of you guys back channel. I guess central Texas has a bunch of places off the beaten track. Screw that long line that is just crazy I could not believe it when I first saw that line. Funny thing is that I'm not much of a meat eater at all and in the NSWC I was one of the best so-called meat eaters.

Yeah don't mention any names online it will ruin the place. lol

I checked them all yesterday, and only the Hilton Austin (downtown, right in front of the convention center) had any availability. Prices start at $819 per night (probably cuadruple the normal rates. Aholes), but I booked at the executive floor for $919, so there seems to be at least a few rooms left. Unfortunately, the creeps offer NO REFUND, so the strategy of looking for a better deal 2 weeks before the race didn't work. But rather be safe than sorry, so bit the bullet, and booked it. And supposedly all the drivers and teams sleep there, but could be lies. Guy said last year there were F1 cars in display at the hotel, and this year will too, so we'll see. Hope this helps.
