More of a military acronym, I think.. Like: SNAFU AWOL and my new favorite, KMAG-YOYO!!! Hays Karl....
From day one of purchase, failure of E differential Solenoid. Because of this failure, my car would drop into neutral at traffic lights or wouldn't go into gear upon up shifting. It took the dealer three installs to get it right. Since then, two years, everything is working well. I would not trade it for a gated shifter.
I've had mine for three years and have never experienced an issue. It definitely works better once it's fully warmed up, but I think we've all discovered that these Ferraris of ours do, in general, respond well to being driven.
Not one single misfunction in 28.000km on a 2008 Scuderia (EU model). Heard of some F1 failures in 430 's and one 2007 Scuderia (modified track only car with F1 failure at 30.000+ km).
2005 bought in 2009 with 2k kms. Many here will characterize my car prior to my purchase a garage queen. Since my purchase, I have put 20k+ kms on the clock. Not a hint of any f1 issues. The only failure on the car has been cracked exhaust manifolds, they were replaced under warranty.
no problems yet, even though my F1 has a problem. My F1 light comes flickers on often when I downshift, just a flicker. Dealer (twice) and now my indie have tested it with SD2 and say pressure is good, no leaks, etc. Car shifts and works great, just that little flicker only on downshifts. 2+ years now, 15,000 miles, no issues.
I've had my 360 now for a little over a year. I had clutch problems b/c it was worn out (I knew it was when I purchased). No F1 issues. I've had the Slo Down lite come on a lot but after I installed the rear challenge grille it has not come on - been over a month - was it b/c of the heat - don't know!
On my 360, twice, the car stalled. With only two incidences (thankfully) I couldn't really find a pattern except I was slowing down and not downshifting all the way to 2nd gear. Both times this happened when the car was new to me and me new to the F1 tranny. With my 430 and now with my 16M I've had zero issues... rock solid.
"after I installed the rear challenge grille it has not come on - been over a month - was it b/c of the heat?" Interesting comment - does having a rear challenge grill really keep things that much cooler in the rear?
Had my car almost a year 2008 F430 F1 - problems with engaging reverse gear pretty much from day one! Ferrari in fairness have been fantastic and all work has been carried out under the approved warranty. Finally it appears to be all sorted after a total of 13 weeks off the road a new clutch, and entire F1 system including actuator. Despite all that I love the car and would definitely go F1 again despite the experience.
I have had my 08 scud for three seasons, 9500 miles. It shifts smoothly when needed and dramatically when pressed. What a great experience its been.
13000 miles in five years on my 430. One hose section sprung a small leak. Replaced section. 500$. Couldn't give me a manual. F1 is way too much fun.
2009 430 Scuderia, no major problems on the F1 system... just once it had air inside the pump due to low mileage and not using it often. After my dealer changed the hydraulic oil and bleed the system everything was fine. Just $300 total cost with labor
Thank god for a positive F1 thread. I just bought a 2005 F430 F1 with 11k miles on it from a licensed dealer and although PPI all checked out ok; reading all of the problem threads have been scaring the sh*t out of me......
19,560 miles and no f1 issues. Just regularly replace the F1 fluid and gearbox with a little friction modifier. Also, make sure no leaks in the F1 system. Any leak can cause air in the system and make it behave differently.
