What is very interesting of the 918, is the location of the exhaust coming through the top of the car.

I thought all the pumps in Canada are supposed to be equipped with sensor to prevent overflowing?
I have never experienced any overflowing gas at the pumps in Vancouver. This is new to me.

They are, the owner is at fault. Some however assume that just because he has owned a super car or two, that he must be some kind of automotive genius.
Money does not make one smart.

Pumps overflow in Toronto all the time, the technology is far from foolproof. I don't think it's the owner's fault

Either way the owner is not going to fill at that gas station again =).

I'm in agreement here. Depending on the car even after shutoff there is extra gas in the nozzle. it depends on the angle of insertion of nozzle. Had that issue with a few cars ... gallardo and maserati coupe.

If the pump overflowed and it ignited then it's the pumps fault. If the owner tried to squeegie the spilled gas off and that caused the fire then it's his fault. Everyone knows gas is flammable and pushing it towards a hot exhaust would be pure stupidity.

If the gas fill is close enough to that hot exhaust, and the owner left the gas cap open long enough for fumes to drift towards the exhaust, could that have been enough to ignite the fuel in the gas tank? There are warnings all over that a spark from a cell phone or a cigarette is enough to ignite gasoline fumes so I'd assume a hot exhaust outlet a foot or two from the gas fill would be more than enough to cause an accident.

Thats not what happened at all. There's a video showing the pump overflow then the owner uses a squeegee to try to clean up the gas off the car. It was the owner pushing the gas around trying to clean it up who inadvertently pushed gas into the engine bay through the body panels. It found something hot enough to ignite it and the car burns to the ground. The placement of the exhaust had nothing to do with the fire.

Those signatures and name plate are such nice touches. Is that standard on all LaFerraris?

Then sadly the owner is squarely to blame. Hopefully his insurer will be sympathetic..
