    I found a late 90's F355 spyder with manual trans and less than 30K miles. It is due for service, the top has a rip and it was in an accident at one point with the front fender and bumper. I have not seen it in person but apparently the repair was not done perfectly. Apparently those are the only significant issues. It does have a clean title. I spoke to the owner and he said I can have it for somewhere in the mid $30's. It is a private party sale. How does that sound?

    You will be over 50k with paint repair, top, and service. Wonder what the interior needs? Tires? Rims? Bad CarFax?

    Where are you located? Maybe get someone on here to have a look at it with you. What color?

    Headers, cats, major, stickies are most likely needed and that's 10-15K depending on who and what.

    Top, unknown could be 2-4K

    Elective stuff from there, paint, leather, etc.

    Start deducting off 55K and the price should probably be low 30s if not lower without any compression/leak down issues.

    I was a little hesitant to reveal the whereabouts of the car because I didn't want someone to buy it out from under me. I was thinking I might drive there this weekend and make an offer. He seemed like an honest guy. He said the leather is shrinking on the dash and the console needs work too. I guess I should have mentioned that. He said he is a body man and that the body is straight but the paint didn't match perfectly.

    What are stickies?

    You've already tallied a fairly long list of issues. Don't be too worried about someone buying it out from under you. Most of us are in the "more information is good" category. You need information to keep from buying an expensive project more than secrecy.

    Stickies is the console issue he mentioned. It's not just the console it's all over the interior. All of the black plastic parts need to be refinished.

    If you're anywhere near me you don't have to worry about me buying it out from under you.

    How are stickies 2500 dollars? Goo gone and a microfiber cost less than $10 plus a little time. Its amazing how a car gets devalued here, if the starting price was 70k I would expect perfection, mid 30's is a great deal if it is clean title and the motor checks out. If you are buying a mid 30's ferrari, who would spend thousands on sticky repair??

    I think if the car drives nice go for it, I do agree that most of these cars have the same issues over and over again...it comes with the territory, headers and belts would be at the top of my list if not addressed. Tires..this is a high performance car, it eats tires so deal with it, factor it into your price, you can get a great set for $800!

    It's like most everything on here if you DIY and are willing to and enjoy going through the process , you can do it for sweat equity and a few bucks.

    You may not be doing the major yourself out of the box though and maybe your level of DIY is limited so that's a factor. If you are going to take this car to a shop and get everything fixed by someone else the end cost could be nuts.

    That's why you see some on here commenting that it could be a good deal because they know their level of DIY and can plan accordingly. I would say this could be the most important factor in determining if it is financially sound deal after the cc/ld thing. Other than that everything else on this car is pretty much DIY'able. Ok paint and body work and specialty leather work excluded.

    I agree Dr Bob that certain DIY will save you $$$, but some should be left to the pros.

    Its amazing, I was in Ferrari Central Jersey yesterday and one of the 360's had some stickies. Does this mean that it is also a project car (they were asking $117000 lol)...stickies don't seem to care about how much you paid for the car, they just happen!

    When I evaluate a car I look at what it would be worth in very good, needs nothing condition, ready to drive, and then start deducting what it would take to have the car professionally bought to that level. That someone might choose to DIY some or all fixes is not relevant to me. Full sticky fix, $2.5 to $3k. A major, $7k to $10k......and so on. DIY, isn't my time worth something?

    A hospital visit for anything is expensive, plenty of threads end up about money. Rob does a great job, some I cannot duplicate economically, others I simply don't want to attempt. So I do process a few parts in my shop, some is shipped out, especially maserati switches which are a white base.
