I'm sure Jens is well-loved by the Japanese (or at least by one of them), but he's never really done much for Honda in terms of results, has he? I like JB too. Seems like a great guy, but there is more riding on this for Honda than just a relationship with one driver.

 

Agreed. He just needs a competitive car. Doesn't even have to be the outright quickest. Just competitive.

I actually kind of want Alonso to stay at Ferrari for next year to see how Kimi and Alonso will do when Kimi gets that car he wants...

Hypothetically speaking if Ferrari wins the title next year we'll hear about it till the end of time that Alonso would've wrapped it up in Melbourne had he been there.

 

That would be awesome to see. Alonso is making sure it won't happen.

I'll freely admit, I did like the guy. He admitted he didn't know squat, but was a hell of a manager, a good interview and something of a 'character'.

Then we found out he willingly and knowingly broke what to me at least remains one of the cardinal rules of motorsport.

The man is filth. A lifetime ban was one of Mad Max's finest moves. He may be a lunatic, but he gets it, even if others don't.

I doubt he's too worried. He's one of the most adaptable guys out there. What makes anyone think he likes the current car any more than Kimi does or is any more comfortable in it than Kimi is? There's no reason to believe he wouldn't do just as well in a car Kimi likes.

Outraced him in Spa (in spite of the 5 second penalty, he was within 2 seconds of him before both their stops and already closed that time by the time Alonso made his stop); Monza was within 5 seconds of him the entire race and on the same lap in singapore (a track Alonso excels at, whereas Kimi not so much normally) was just .1xx behind him, but couldn't challenge due to his car breaking, yet in the end only qualified .3 behind him on a very long track (longest of them all, timewise IIRC).

Ever since the summer break he's been much closer.

He has the fastest time in q2 Of the entire field and then his car broke in q3 last race!

I'm afraid that when it comes to putting drivers lives at unnecessary risk I don't have any sense of humor at all. I've seen the ambulances roll too many times.

It's not 'funny', 'crafty' or entertaining in any way. It's disgusting.

As I've said before, that it was even contemplated should be reason for a lifetime ban and that you find it acceptable tars you with the same brush.

I know I wouldn't you anywhere near a race team.

Assuming he won that Q battle, that would have made the matchup what? 11-3 in favor of Alonso? Look guys, I'm a huge Kimi fan. He's one of my 2 favorite drivers, Alonso being the other. I even had a Kimi t-shirt made for the first GP in Austin. But let's not pretend anything he's done at Ferrari this year has Alonso shaking in his boots. If anything, Alonso is probably a bit surprised Kimi hasn't given him more trouble.

 

Kimi was much further away for much of the season. I'm saying the furthest away from Alonso that race was 5 seconds, and 10-15 or so laps before Alonso dropped out Kimi started getting closer.

I was surprised Kimi didn't give Alonso a run but fact of that matter is that the 2 have complete opposite driving styles so there's only so much one can do *blah blah blah...adapting is part of talent! You can have the neatest hand writing in the world, if you change the side you write with it's not going to be as neat, period).

I was actually surprised Kimi came as close to Alonso as he did at Singapore.

I also wrote that Kimi has been getting close as of late, not over the entire season .

 

If you cared to examine the Singapore "incident" in detail, you would have seen there was no risk of any life being put at risk.
You exaggerate grossly what was just a brush with the wall in an awkward place to provoke a safety car.
Nobody saw any risk there, and it was hardly noticed. It was a non-event, so Briatore's role was quite minimal.
Flavio was victim of F1 politics, no more ... from Mosley who was darker than coal himself.

Like him, you keep pretending holding the moral high ground on the subject.
