Depends of the insurance allows anyone to drive. Some are name drivers only .

    Hi.

Haven't heard of this (other then "Any drivers" for our avg Joe cars) unless the car is a museum piece not to be driven then yes you can insure it but once someone wants to take the wheel & start driving then he better get approved.

I always say, you can have all the money in the world to buy the fanciest car (at least in Singapore) but if the insurance doesn't clear then you can't even take ownership cos LTA needs the cover note. However, it is possible to own the car & not insured under you but some other named drivers.

One can of course drive the car which is not insured for the driver but should any accident happen then it's going to be ugly.

Lastly, something we learnt from SAF is "You can do anything but just don't get caught" ;)

Insurers usually require a named driver for more expensive cars. So if you have a ferrari and want to insure only the car, they will either not accept or ask for a very high premium. For the "normal" cars, you can just insure the car. For example my BMW 7 series, it does not have a named driver clause.

Yeah, thats the problem... i don't know if i can drive a Ferrari, cuz i heard that insurance companies are scared to insure "new" drivers, although i have had experience driving in Indonesia.... Also, sorry for the spam of "I'm new to the forum" cuz i didn't know how the thread works, and i didn't see my post so i accidentally typed it again just to test it out.... I do have a international licence and the foreign licence, but I'm PR here, so i need a Singapore Driver's licence which is coming up soon. Only problem is I may not be able to drive supercars....

There is actually no problem. When you get your Spore driving license and before you buy your ferrari, you can ask an insurance agent to quote you. Try Anika as they cover most exotics in town. You probably have to pay a lot more as you are younger/inexperience. Expect to pay around 20K or more. Good luck.

    Bro,
Go to liberty insurance direct. They would give you a cover but it might be a bit high because of your age.

Wanted to respond in an intelligent manner on some of the topics here, but i will just revert to picking on MP's comment.

Going over the border and letting it all hang out is a sure way to get into prison, or become a father of a child you never planned for...... :)

Agreed, all the expats I know in Singapore tell me the same thing - difficult for foreigners to get work permits at the moment.

Got a good friend who was head of an oil desk jumping to a french National Gas company as the bank closed its operations.

I guess if you are with the oil majors or the big trading houses, you should be able to secure something.

I too have heard it's difficult, but I am finishing an MBA in shipping/logistics so I feel the timing is right to make the leap. If my wife can land something to sustain us we'll be staying to continue my search.

Coe is unfortunately, a damning factor over here but looking at how some air-cooled 911s transact, some hardcore "collector" might just gun it.

I might just give up owning exotics on this little island & I'm not sure if it pleases the govt cos on the other hand, they'll earn less from me but there's no lack of owners donating to their causes so guess they've won.

#1 Cost (customs duties, coe, road tax, insurance, parking spaces & maintenance)
#2 Worry for my license (I'm not a speedster but u guys know)

The returns in owning them overseas is so much more pleasing.

    Just discovered this company:

    Autocarrozzeria ufficiale Lamborghini

They are the painter responsible for all Lamborghinis since Countach days till now including Venenos & Aventador Roadster Jota.

Located in Italy near Modena. They also service & do race preparations so if you want to restore or have your prized car painted properly, this looks like the place.

Well anything's for sale if the price is Right! ^_^

That said, my Diablo seems to be very rare indeed. I have not seen a single late series(Open headlight & VVTI) RHD SV for sale in years, worldwide & even the 6.0 has not surfaced. This shows that owners are keeping them & if I remembered right, only 190+ in total were made between 1998-99 with probably less than 30 RHD out there.

Speaking of 355s, I was just about to ask if anyone's keen to pick them up in KL as there's easily 3-5 on sale now & prices have stabilised around Rm250K; same as good 993s. I've just made an offer on a 360 spider for Rm280K but it needs some work so would be an Rm320K car thereabouts while in Singapore, a coed spider is asking for above S$300K. The same car is about £50K in UK which is tempting as well while 430 spiders start from £65K.
