I'm with you. Love that sound; I didn't realize the more "modern" cars have been denied.

... will probably be the *ONLY* Ferrari with the *F1* designation, and the only other road car with that designation (other than the original Maclaren).

Bernie and his lawyers will make sure of that.

Ferrari's ugliest airbag steering wheel. But I still love the car.

(I think early 456s also have it)

I'm with you. But I've been told we can swap steering wheels with the 360 which is better looking, smaller, racier and also has an airbag.

    Cheers,

    Nuno.

Thank you, Steve. I'm seriously contemplating making the change but I had never actually seen a 355 with the 360's steering wheel. Looks much better. Gorgeous.

    Cheers,

    Nuno.

No worries. Lots of owners have done it. It's a straight swap. The hardest part is finding the airbag part of the 360 wheel at a non eye-watering price.

Good point. Hadn't thought of that. They don't have F360 and 360F1, or F430 and 430F1.
    Nice one. :)

I think the 360 steering wheel looks awful in the 355. It simply doesn't fit in with the aesthetic in any way. I think the factory sport seats don't look good for the same reason.

Then again I also think clear side markers look horrible, aftermarket wheels ruin the look of the car, fender shields are unnecessary and stupid looking (how many logos do you really need??), and the fastest way to ruin any car is to paint the wheels black, so I'm probably in the minority on the steering wheel thing.

Back to unique 355 items, I think the '95 355CH is the last challenge car that can be legally registered and driven on the street, which is pretty darn cool.

I can at this point unfortunately confirm Steve's assessment of the matter. Found some 360s steering wheels, most of them in 5 figure values, virtually all without an airbag. Obscene and a rip off in my book. Not reasonable values at all and I'm put off by them. Don't mind spending money on each and every mechanical problem/upgrade, but this defies logic.

Former Formula 1 Champion Phill Hill considered the 355 one of the top 10 Ferraris of all time, so probably the 355 was the last Ferrari to be personally endorsed as one of the all time greats by a Formula One world champion!

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

How about the 456 wheel? Fits the interior better imo.

I'd prefer a smaller, 3 spoke wheel but not enough to change it.

How interesting. I guess it shows we're all different.

I agree re the sports seats.
I disagree re the steering wheel. I think the original 355 airbag wheel is an abomination and the 360 wheel is better in every way.
I love shields, and wouldn't be seen in a Ferrari without them.
I hate black wheels on any car, and I don't like non standard wheels on any ferrari - especially the 355, which has the best factory wheels on any car, ever. 19s? God, no!
And, finally, I really dislike the NON clear indicators you guys in the U.S. were saddled with.
They look crap, and if I had a 355 in your country the first think I'd do is change them out for clear (actually I'd change the whole front bumper - those orange rectangle things are horrific).

So, there you go. Each to their own! :)

The 355 is simply the best Ferrari every made for so many reasons that have already been mentioned. I do disagree about the black wheels and shields and the steering wheel is not that bad. Shields are a bit much on some cars depending on the colour. But black wheels on a rosso corsa 355 are simply amazing. Here is a pic of my challenge with gloss black wheels. My road car has satin black challenge wheels and it too looks amazing. All the years I have owned my road car, I have received many more compliments since the black wheels were put on. Like Ive said before, the 355 is simply an amazing car to drive and to just sit there with a beer and look at.

    Huh....

I am thinking a smaller steering wheel would be a good change.
    I have clear side markers
    I have aftermarket wheels
    I have shields
    My wheels are black.
My car is not a Challenge car.

You probably are not interested in buying mine huh?

    :)

Having spent the day at the Lakeforest car show, I am amazed at how big the newer Ferrari's are. The 360 is still somewhat small, but the 430 / 458 are positively HUGE compared to a 355.

I swapped out my 355 steering wheel for a 360 wheel. Zero regret, Love the feel of the smaller thicker wheel with a more direct steering response feel. I think the wheel updates the interior while still keeping with it's simple and uncluttered character. Will post pic as soon as I can figure out how to.
