More is More - 1990 Ferrari Testarossa | Hemmings Motor News

Thought I'd share this - my fav line is "...All Ferraris are expensive. Why not own something special?"

    And this one:

"The best thing ever was when my high-school buddy came down to ride in it when I first got it--we were huge Testarossa fans--and we could not for the life of us figure out how to open the glovebox," said Sanjay. "I actually found it by mistake--it was one of the buttons I guess I hadn't pushed; and suddenly the glove box pops open, and a little mirror pops out, and we were just looking for the cocaine in there. That was a seminal moment. I thought, 'Man, this was '80s pimpin' style'."

    Priceless.

"Starting a Toyota is activating a machine; lighting off a Ferrari flat 12 is poking a war beast with a stick."

    Nice read....

"The Testarossa will easily perform epic burnouts if you're that sort of philistine, but it's far more satisfying to use the grip found in the 10-inch-wide rear tires."

NOOOO! Won't SOMEBODY think of the differential!!!!!! :)

His first sentence right out of the gate he needs a slap on the back of the head.

You do not take a Testarossa from second gear at 25 mph and drop it back into 1st gear.

Whosever car this was , should send him the bill !

What's the VIN on this car.

IIRC this is the second article on this guys car....I recognize his face. Or is this an old article?

Anyway, most of the cars on the side bar are higher miles and the white TR in Florida suffers from a bad case of OC (Over Cavallino.) But at least they took off the stripes.

They can say what they want about the TR. But I like the fact that you have to drive the car that is real honest. No power steering, no cruise control, so what. Once you live with the car for a while it does not seem too wide. When that starter spins over (I like the starter sound) and the 12 cylinders come to life it is music. I have a louder than stock exhaust and when it hits 3000 rpm it really is sweet.

Agree. No precats or cats on mine with a Tubi. The sound is much better than my 360 with a Tubi.

    Old 12s rule.

Each of my cars has its sweet spot. As for my TR, I don't think there is a better sounding car than a TR with aftermarket exaust.

I have the actual car in that article, Fortunately it has 15k miles on it today and is in great shape. In 2012 for the article miles were 14800. Today 15100. Apparently Dr. Mehta has many cars. This one Wasn't running well when I bought it, but it is now. Had oxygen sensors wired incorrectly or backwards? Also had bad if wires and a bad relay for the Bosch jetronic ke fuel injection system. I had a Bill Boys and the guys at Possum Hollow Motorsports in Pheonixville PA work on the car. They had it running great in one week. Both have many years of experience with Ferrari and worked for Algar Ferrari outside of Philadelphia for years. They were a pleasure to work with and came highly recommended from my friends at McLaren Philadelphia who first looked at the car.

Note the silly cell phone antenna on drivers rear quarter. Funny thing is they call the car a 1990 in the article. It's an 89!

I was riding along when the author drove my car, and trust me, he didn't do that. ;)
