Water line in the garage was 9" My insurance company said once salt water is in the car they consider it totaled.
Love the GT4, looks great; smells like a car; stiff suspension; no power steering; hard clutch. A man's car all the way - not like the sugar coated cars of today. I'm glad it found good home, it looks better than my home, haha
If you think an idle/parked car is a loss with 1-4 inches of water in or on the rockers and soaked carpets,....Reality is, most 40 year old sports cars have some kind of history, despite what the seller/owner tells you. It's like the girlfriend you had in college who said you were the first, what a joke! What do you think is worse: a transient exposure to water over a 24-48 hour period or ... driving a 1970's Ferrari on salted fall and winter European roads for several decades? Any way, a full restoration means the whole car is taken apart, fiberglass tub off the tube chasis; rust removed from here and there, parts get sand blasted, replated, repainted, etc., etc., etc. Typically, the result of his restorations are better than when they originally came of the production line. If you were at Cavallino, you would have seen the admiring crowd around his hotrod 1975 GT4 Euro pictured in the above thread!
I am being asked to change the year on VIN F106AL07202. This car is rumored to be the first gt4, but is currently titled as a 1976. Stefano, please call me and help me with your former car; 941-723-4551 Randy
Love the car, love the Bertone Dino, love the story.....but if I recall correctly there was a SPECIFIC post-Sandy/Katrina flood law enacted regarding disclosure.
Hell, I went on a FCA trip, my last BTW and we drove through 6-9" freeing water that leaked into the cabin. I was aghast and very mad at the organizer as well as some others but I got over it. Still I would never do that again. Next time I back up and leave the group! :0 Al post more pics!
Hi Rob Here is the fiberglass tub of the first 1973 Ferrari 308 GT4 in the frist picture The second is with a 1974 Ferrari 308 GT4 tub Image Unavailable, Please Login
Al, Is there any date of manufacture plate or stamping on a Euro to prove date of manufacture? Has Ferrari been of any help providing you with date of manufacture? How did #7202 come to be registered as a 1976 and not a 1973?
Here it is ! I also just returned from Ferrari Classiche dept in Italy and saw the Book and all is confirmed as this is the car Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very nice ! This will be a fantastic story once done, you should really start another thread dating it all from start to finish. Were you able to find out what the name of the original color and interior combo was on this car ? Was the interior all one color including the carpets? What is your estimate for completing this car ? Congratulations !

That is truly fantastic .... I suspected the car had different rugs from the seats. Once you do the full nut and bolt restore , this will be a nice centre / conversation piece for any collection. What a great Cinderella story.
What a great start to a cool story. I thought about bidding on this only because I knew it was an early one. Had no idea it was number one. However I know I would not have done it the justice that you will though on the resto. Very happy it landed in the right hands.
My husband and I stopped by Al's Strictly Ferrari shop in Naples last week. The workspace is incredible. I thought you may enjoy a few pics of the Paris GT4 showcar nearing completion of its restoration and its stablemates. We are looking forward to seeing it at Cavallino ! The red and silver euro GT4's I think are also going to be shown at Cavallino. The level or workmanship is stunning. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Quite a shop, isn't it? How many GT/4s are doing Cavallino. I'll be at the track Friday and The Breakers Saturday.
Yikes. The pictures must've been routed through a server down under. 👻 Here they are again. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
