    Check the Mercedes Petronas Facebook page to get a larger sample of opinions. Pretty harsh stuff being posted directly to the team. Credit to them for responding.

    Anyone can do maths. Hamilton would be ahead if his car stayed together, but it's not by much. Note that if we take all qualifying sessions of this season, with the exception where Lewis had issues), the difference between the two is .1 of a second. LEWIS IS SO MUCH FASTER :rolleyes:.

    I don't know which contributed to that brain aneurysm I just had, Toils pointless debate or reading that Facebook page.

    Yes, and I thought opinions were strong on F-Chat. Toil would probably get banned for being too nice lol.

    Now I understand why the NBC F1 guys keep bringing up "conspiracy" it's social-media driven, not mainstream.

    At the end of the day, Lewis will out drive Nico everytime.

    He did it 4 times in a row from malaysia to spain! ;) Then did it at Canada with his in-lap jumping Nico in the pits. He was .4 up on pole in Austria before he ran wide. He closed a 6 second gap in Silverstone. Ran from 21st to 3rd in Germany. BEAT Rosberg in Hungary starting last from the pit lane. Nico has never passed Hamilton from starting position to finishing position this year. Hamilton on the other hand has done that 3 times this year.

    A reasonably fair assessment of the state of play between the two I'd say.

    As a fan of Hamilton and his driving style, yes it's great to watch him being the hunter, maybe it would be really boring watching him running off at the front into the distance, but to get him back on par he probably needs a couple of races like that to take the pressure of himself.

    Nico on the other hand has faired very well with his consistent results, helped of course by Hams reliability issues, but it goes without saying he will really really want this title, because it maybe the last chance he gets.

    The double points race is another seemingly pointless quandary, in which it could boil down to the luck of the draw with car reliability, and in IMO thus possibly turning the WDC winner into a farce.

    Yep. Most of us say 'the record books don't lie' (except when our man gets shafted;)). And not just the WDC, but the all important WCC too. I do think this year could forever have a big old asterisk alongside it. Hopefully not, and this BS won't affect who finishes where, but I have a *bad* feeling. :(

    FWIW, another report from Autosport;

    What I don't understand is it required unanimous approval. Now we have at least VJ and Toto claiming it's BS. I'm pretty sure Sir Frank (& LdM?) have also said the same.

    Err, so guys, how in the name of all that's holy did it get unanimous approval?.... :confused:

    Cheers,
    Ian

    :p

    Not going there again. ;) [EDIT; Beyond noting that I'm pretty sure the WCC is more important to VJ than where his guys finish...]

    What I'd still like an answer to though is;

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Its actually pretty easy to explain why you prefer Britney LOL!

    Anyway, If the roles were reversed there is absolutely no way Britney would have finished in front of the Hammer! To completely different levels of driver talent and skill. And I don't think Britney has the Lower Appendages (Davidhobism) The Hammer has as well. The only reason why Britney is leading the WDC at the moment are the car failures on the Hammers Merc. Oh and going by fuel consumption the Hammer is easier on his car than Brit.

    Good Day...

    Well, I guess we know now that if Nico moves to the back of the field at the beginning of the race that he will do pretty well.
    Moral of the story: Praise the car, not the driver.
    This Merc is a beast when functioning. Lewis and Nico look indestructible in this car, partially due to skill, but mostly due to the car (not trying to be insulting, just speaking my opinion).
    I wish the wild rumors of Alonso to Merc were true. I would love to see him in a car that is truly class of the field.

    Also, sorry to bring up a 2 month old thread, but based on this weeks race the OP's question was answered.

    Russia was an anomalous situation given the ultra smooth track that allowed for much longer tire wear. I don't think anyone expected Nico's tires to last 51 laps and to boot he was putting in the fastest laps when his tires were the oldest! He really lucked out but also put in a stellar drive.

    Russia could have been a dandy race, had Nico not blow the second corner so badly.
    As it was, it just shows how much better the Mercs are than the rest of the field.
