Need help identifying these cats...

Newbie question. the pair of cats in the picture came off my car.. I am assumed they were stock. they rattle and are no good. I replaced them with test pipes and I dont like them. I started looking for stock cats on ebay but they look a lot different.in the pictures... Why the difference? Was there 2 types of cats for the 355? what is the difference? I think these are real cats they have the screen and I can feel the insides moving around when I shake them like a bad converter... Any ideas what brand these are if they are not stock? I really liked the sound with these on the car so I would like to get another pair. I posted this on another thread but gave it its own I wanted more exposure. My car sounded amazing with these on it..

Look a lot like Hyper-flows.

Every set I installed failed and they never wanted to talk about warranty. Just say no to Hyperflow. Poor product in my opinion and non existant product support in my experience.


Besides, broken cat substrate only gets that way from overheating and the only way they overheat is when there is something wrong with the car.

Yes, I am. CEL light. It's the CAT or header, or both. Need to diagnose and won't have the chance for a week or two.

In a sick way, not really. It means I get the opportunity to learn more about the car. I'm looking for reasons to take it apart

 

no CEL no issues. I assumed they were stock and replaced them with a test pipe style and dont like the sound so want these back...When I took them off I noticed one was broken up on the inside. Why would this have had to happen from a issue with my car when people are saying they went through two sets because of poor quality?..My car was running fine no CEL or SDL. Its possible there was a problem at one point before I purchased it but as of now it seems fine...except now it sounds like a Hondararri.Theses cats could have 30,000 plus miles on them for all I know so if they are a poor quality cat then its certainly possible they failed from regular use. I really want to go back to cats and my Tubi it sounded awesome..I'm afraid if I go with cats from another company I will be disappointed with the sound.....

 

They look just like the Hyperflo cats on my 94 348.

I called Hyper-flow no one answers...

 

I have a tubi exhaust and new hyperflows. Brain has a lot more experience than I do but so far so good. Troy at hyperflow was very helpful to me when I was shopping. You can buy them from many places, not just direct. Keep trying and he will answer.

I think my car sounds perfect. FYI. I'll do a youtube if you'd like.

FYI, my decision on which cats was after consult with Dave Helms. It was not a raving endorsement but more its probably the best way to go right now.

Bob just got off the phone with Troy he is out of the office for a cpl days and will get back to me. I am 90% certain I will go with hyperflows again. It would be great to hear a screaming drive by! Cant get enough of them... I agree these cats with a tubi sounded awesome it had that high pitched rip when the by pass opened..
