    OK, I will.

Also asked for the dashboard material cause I'm fed up with that pseudo "specialist" who pretends to make me pay twice for the shipping cost...

Some of you asked me for this material, but if nobody can help me in identifying it what I found is wrong or not, I cannot do anything...

I have seen two different types. One is a shiny vinyl type material and the other is a dense almost denim like material. I don't know if the hood padding changed throughout the years. Ivans website has lots of great pictures of Ghibli's from all years.

I know JNK, but I need to know if the material that I found is OK.

the material that you show in the above picture is one that I have never seen before. Ivan has recently restored his black car. He might have an answer to the correct material and where to get it.

It is my careful opinion that the original material does not exist.
    Sorry to report this.

Did you think that mine might be original for a 1968 or is it a modern replacement. Photos above

    Any thoughts gratefully received

Looking at your photo it is my opinion is that no it is NOT original. The original is of a nylon type material and not puffy.
The underside of the Ghibli trunk and the stow hatch for the spider is of a different material and pattern altogether from the under hood material, and again does not exist.
    Ciao,

I don't know but I can see one major difference : square pattern instead of diamond.

    Hi Julian,

My old 1971 4.7 L Maserati Ghibli RHD Coupe AM 1754 is still in original condition & has NEVER been restored, its has its hood material intact & is the same the day it left the factory, in fact it still has its original Pirelli spare tyre in the boot, I will get some pics for you tomorrow to put all the conjecture to rest, the Bobby Gentry material does not look correct to me, most probably it was replaced when the hood was painted & restored,

    Regards,

    David Z - Melbourne - 20/10/2014.

Oh no ... not even close.

I have a couple of old original Ghibli hood pads that I use for patterns. I have not been able to find the original material which, as Frank mentioned, is like a Nylon type material. The back has a jute like insulation. The pad is finished with a binding on a portion of the sides and a small portion on the top. The portions that are not finished are tucked under the hood's frame.
    These photos should help.
