I also have a 355 Spyder which has a problem. The hood will not go down and the problem is the potentiometer on the passengers seat. Would you believe it that Ferrari no longer stocks this part? What model jaguar unit did you use to replace it. I really would appreciate any help with this. Cheers.

I havent done this as so far no issues (gulp), but I have read other threads that nicely describe rebuilding the pots.

    Have you seen those?

    What he means is:

The convertible top on the F355 is the most overdesigned underachieving piece of caca that had ever disguised itself to be a modern top design. It has two seat position sensors buried underneath the seats in the most difficult place to access. If the cheap piece of caca plastic gear ever fails, then from the convertible top computer point of view, the seats position will interfere with the top as it comes down, therefore the top will beep at you and stop working.

The solution is to replace said position sensors at $350 a pop, and 4 hours of labor at $100 each.

It was the hood thing that threw me off. I certainly know first hand what your saying I have a 355 spider. Have you ever seen a print of the hydraulics system? WTF? I even tried to put the top up once sitting inside the car...stupid. I followed a DIY on here and converted mine to manual. Its easy takes an hour and a half and its fool proof now. You do have to tilt the seat backs forward but you dont have to move them forward and takes 2 seconds to put down and 4 to put up..If I ever sell the car I can reconnect it but that wont be for many a year.
