Walter, can you tell where this period image of the LP400 Prototype (before it was green) was taken? Monaco GP? There seems to be a guard rail in the background... Image Unavailable, Please Login
The red card on the dash reads 'Access Circuit' - it could also be Misano circuit, where the cars was tested as well..

Just noticed that this is the 1000th page of this great thread - and with now close to 20.000 posts ! Bruno
Here you go. My image is actually an outtake of the same shoot. Armin & his first S1 which suffered an untimely demise at the hands of Vale. Very appropriate image for page 1,000 of this fantastic thread. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have 94 car magazines from the period 1971 to 74 with photos or drawings of the LP500 prototype, and I've scanned all of these. I'm sharing the link to these scans under "fair use", for non-commercial and educational purposes: Lamborghini Countach LP500 prototype - car magazine scans
Awesome Kaare, thank you for scanning & sharing these! I went through the entire series and whilst 90% of the images are already posted in this thread, there are a few gems which are not, and most of the illustrations are not, so I'm grateful you posted. Thank you again. This is clearly the best image of the set... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks - I was sure it would interest fellow enthusiasts. There are several things to see from these scans: Some photos were made prior to the Geneva show (the "arena" shoot), where there is no Pirelli script on the tyres. In Geneva, the Countach was first facing left (when seen from the back wall), but was turned to face right, and then got the Pirelli script on the tyres. The "castle" photo shoot was done after Geneva, but before Paris, since the key hole in the front bonnet wasn't added (and a few other modifications). At the Paris show, it had a Urraco style steering wheel, as far as I can see. These are some of my observations.
I have always wondered if the pop up head lights actually worked on the LP500, as I have never seen a photo of them in the up position. Just an observation, but it would be interesting to know if they did, or to actually see a picture of them deployed.
I'm not sure why, but I note that the LP400 Prototipo has now gained dark lenses! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
