If you accept that for $20k you are buying a serial plate, engine block, head, and crankshaft along with some bits & pieces you'll be fine. Every other part is readily available, most as new reproductions. In any event, i think the only investment here is in the pleasure of a fun project. It will take 1,500 to 1,800 man-hours, and a new body, bonnet, boot lid, and doors. As mentioned above, easily $100-200k.
Wherever you are located, I would suggest you connect with jag-lovers.org and the Jag clubs.
    Best of luck & enjoy.

being a monocoque, a brand new body/chassis is readily available. no body work, only paint required.

Hello Guys, So I offered 10,000(?) for the car. He is stuck at 16,000(?). I believe it is still to high. What do you guys think?

I believe it is too high; the car is a basket case.

IMO, Spend the money upfront, unless you have a person who will throw you a free rstoration or know a place which is inexpensive, but excellent at e-type restorations.

still curious to what martin robey would charge for a front and rear clip. if reasonable, could make the project a go.
do you plan on doing the work yourself?

Antonio, I had a 65 xke OTS for 14 years. The thing is all the parts are available, but it will cost a small fortune redoing a basket case. If you want a nice car, spend the money up front.

As for Martin Robey, I would imagine he will be exorbitant. Then it has to be shipped allowing for a chance of damage and the additional cost.. A fellow Fchatter sold a completly restored series 1 body last year for 25K - was in primer. Boy, does that look like a great deal today.
