If it happens again..check to see if you have brake lights. You may have a faulty brake switch.
Now that the sun has risen on another day, I have had time to rest, enjoy an adult beverage (or two, or three or....) and reflect on my situation from last night, I wanted to make a comment. The issue happened when I was attending a local car show at my step-daughters high school vo-tech. Once I got to the show, I made the decision to lower the top on the spider to give all the locals a nice few of a car that most have only dreamed about, let alone be able to see one up close, and in person. Now, keep in mind I have owned my 355 a grand total of 10 days and have only put the top down once during those days. With a crowd rapidly gathering around me, I made a feeble attempt to lower the top. The real issue is I was, and still, unsure of the proper procedure to complete this task, particularly dealing with the F1 transmission. When I was researching the car for my purchase, I learned that the car has to be set up and in the proper configuration in order to do this. I un-latched the top and began, what I thought would be the GRAND REVEAL of the top going down to the ooo's and ahh's of the crowd. With my heart pounding, the car began to beep and NOTHING. Oops!! what have I done wrong. Not wanting to look like a total buffoon, I made acouple more attempts to lower the top. I successfully move it, what I thought was and inch or two and then aborted the opening. At this point, I apparently got the top back to the proper closed position. I latched the roof and exited the car. As the show continued, I made a decision to move my C6 Corvette and the 355 closer to the others cars after two cars had left. The Corvette fired up and moved with no issues. Now it was time to fire up the 355 and move it. I sat in the seat, hit my key fob button. The sound of two chirps was heard and I proceeded to start the car. Knowing I must be in N to start, I pulled back on both paddles.....and NOTHING. Yikes!! Key off, and back on....same result. I attempted to place it into N a dozen times, or more with the same embarrassing results. At this point, I began to panic a little. "Oh great!! I broke my Ferrari at a local high school vo-tech car show in the middle of Oklahoma!!!" So, I turned to my fellow brothers and sisters here on FC, and you did not disappoint me!! Everyone was so quick to offer help advice, and in the dark I began to troubleshoot my broken supercar!! Well, after FINALLY following the advice, I turned the battery off then back on, and I was finally able to get the car into N and she fired right up!! WHEW!!! What a relief.....I was not looking forward to sleeping in my car all night long LOL. So, what did I learn? I learned this: 1 - Where my battery on/off switch is located, and what it can do! 2 - I have the Sony CD changer!!! I never knew that!! I opened up the cover and was like, "AWESOME!!! I have the CD changer!!!!" 3 - I need to learn how to properly lower and raise the top, and then practice it a couple times before I enter any more car shows!! 4 - Most important, I learned that this group of people are the best!! In my time of crazy need, many of you reached out to me and offered help. I want to pass on a very special thank you to Dave (Dave rocks) for all his help!! Thanks Dave! If any of you are in Oklahoma City, my door is always open to you!! THANK YOU ALL!!!
