Considering a 4 post lift for storage...

Interesting about the casters...I was under the impression the legs had to be bolted down. But that would be pretty cool to be able to move it out to work on the car outside in the summer. Think I'll go with Greg Smith...

 

I know nothing about lifts but is it a bad idea to use a 2 post lift to store a car and park a vehicle under it?

i'd love to get a lift someday when I finally have the chance to add a 355 to my stable but i'd need to stack them.

 

I live 10 miles from the San Andreas fault. I effing bolt my 4 post lift to the floor. Thank you very much !!!

 

I'd assume if it is a big enough quake to destabilize a 4 post lift your garage is going to come down on top of it anyway.

 

On the one I got and linked to above I can say the welds look great. I have 3 or 4 welders working for me everyday so I spend a bit of time looking at welds and having them x-rayed and pen-dye tested. I may have lucked out on my choice of manufacturers. but this one was pretty low priced and looks to be quality built.

 

Awesome, glad it's still benefiting the Fchat community! In that house I had no lift, so 2 jacks and 2x4's for extra height was the only option...

Actually I'm looking for winter storage, 355 going up and '69 Firebird convertible underneath.

 

I just looked again, it is only 3 miles from the fault. Gulp !

cons of having a 4 post, to do anything with your wheels off, you'd have to jack it up while it's on the lift, correct?

any other cons 4 post vs. 2 post?

 

You're correct there. I have a pair of bottle jacks if I need to pull the wheels. Not too much of an issue.
