Yes. I hope to get it on the lift this weekend if the garage door guy get's my door retracked (ugh!). Once I get it on the lift, I need to design and build an engine cradle and then out it comes. I'll be cleaning up whatever parts I can in the meantime.

I also plan to pull the heads and inspect at a minimum.

If you do, prepare for 29 opinions of how you should have done a particular bit of work during your restoration. Usually by owners without any expereance in that particular area :D! But they have once fitted a set of test pipes;)

Hey Dino, that's a valid fear buddy but if I can help just one person as I learn myself, it will be worth it :)

Way to go Dave! Is the ultimate goal to keep them both once the resto is done on the new one?

Thanks Henry (and the others too).

The black 98 will go to my grave (or, my nephew when I'm gone). The red, way too soon to tell. Just looking forward to learning more about these awesome machines and the best way to do that is take them apart :)

Lol, why would you be on ignore?

As far as I can tell and know thus far it's 100% original.

Other details will be presented as I learn them.

    Original headers? Valves? Exhaust? Cats?

Those are easy. I love the fact that you bought this car BTW. I can't wait to see you become a convert. ;)

Valve guide were done, however by a one man, unknown shop. The guy might have been the best in the world but I have no way to know and therefore I will pull the heads to verify.

This car will be a lot of fun but make no mistake, it will not replace my 98 F1 GTS. But, I will enjoy every second of the learning process and sweat equity I invest.

Well, I've only driven it up the driveway. But, to my suprise, I do have enough room in the footwell for the clutch pedal.

I've not had a stick since I sold my vette in 2009. It took me a few minutes to get this in reverse since I forgot that you need to push down on the stick :)

Dave, the car looks nice. Are you going to do a compression/leak down test before you pull the heads?

    Yes. I want a baseline.

I've decided to start with the interior. This thing is incredible filthy, just unreal. I had a bunch of leatherique left over and I did an experiment treating the pass door panel and cleaning it. I was very surprised, it did a pretty good job at cleaning the dirty leather.

I ordered another cleaner to try also.

I want to get the interior and rubber gaskets clean and conditioned right away before more time goes by and dry rot or cranking of the leather starts.
