No, I am talking about your suggestion that Vettel sabotaged his year, just to get out of his contract and then join Ferrari.
    Did I get thet right?

Far too short sighted to say he's the best in the business. He was quite evenly matched against JEV in his time at torro Rosso. He's had 1 great season in the new formula but his wins only came when the mercs were in trouble and when notably Lh wasn't in a position to win.

He got past nico easily enough In Canada but we all know how good nicos defending skills are

He drove a great race in Hungary but again benefited from the sc, the fact nico sucks in the wet and the fact lewis started from the pit lane

And in Belgium nico gifted him the win by ruining both mercs chances through his poor rwcecraft

Not trying to take any credit from the guy. He's performed superbly but must mention he has had probably the best luck all season.

Perhaps the thread should be titled driver with the most potential. You don't become the best in the business with one good season. Imo the best are hamilton and alonso by a decent margin. And then button. All with proven track records, wdcs and importantly consistency. Question mark over Vettel to see if he can start to redeem himself from next year onwards. Similarly, will ricciardo keep up the high standard and how will he fare against kyvat (who incidentally
    Is worse than vergne).

    Who's the best?

Even with the same car it would be debatable IMO.
Different track, different weather, different tire etc etc
Bit of luck here or there, how's the driver feeling today motivation etc etc

For me I think Nando, Seb and Lewis are on the top shelf in no particular order with Dan climbing. If you put them all in the same car and put them on the track to race 10 times I bet you'd get different results.

    Here's a little question, then.

If Lewis is equal best by a decent margin, why is it that Nico is always hot on his heels and/or beating him? Wouldn't that be the best by a small margin?

Alonso and Kimi...that's a big margin.

Surely you can really only judge a driver by his performance against his team mate.

So, let's assume that lewis is a 'better' driver than Nico, it sure as hell isn't by much, and certainly not a 'decent margin'

Kimi sucks sht. Rosberg is much better than him for a start. Rosberg probably in top 6-7 drivers on grid. Kimi in bottom 6-7 currently.

Your example fails to take into account differential in pace. Merc so superior that rosberg can still get second place. Ferrari is amongst all the other cars where even a little slower pace could drop you from say 4tj to 8th dependimg the day.

Also reliability issues; kimi and alonso even. Rosberg had much better reliability than lewis which gives the illusion of doing better.

Look at head to heads by removing variables beyond control of driver (ie reliability) if analysis confuses you. That might help you understand. Both alonso and hamilton place above their team mate 90% of the time in such cases

i'd say it's the driver who can get the most out of his car.
    so to me it's alonso
i'm not really an alonso fan but he has flogged everything out of the pigs the factory has been giving him.
his teammate's results are proof of that.

    You're not thinking rationally.

If Lewis beats Nico 100% of the time in qualifying and the race by a minuscule amount, then he's only slightly better..... Not better by a significant margin.

Sometimes Nico beats Lewis.... so the difference is very small, but still enough.

I'm not suggesting lewis isn't better.... I'm just saying your claim is exaggerated............. Again

Thing is you could argue a tenth or two in F1, is a country mile, when all said and done that's what the difference is I'd say between the top drivers.

A driver I would be looking for in say my team, would be one that was all round fast, racing passing, Qualy, feedback ect. I'd pick Ham and Alonso in this case.

Races with significant margins: Malaysia and China (17 and 18 sec). Suzuka 15 sec. Sochi around 10 I think. 4 sec for the last race even. This Is with cruising pace mind you. Bahrain 15 sec before sc wiped it away

Too hard to quantity it all exactly. Over a single lap difference in pace is small. You're forgetting there is more than just pace. There is ability to pass, ability to race in rain, tire and fuel management, racecraft in general, ability to be consistently fast over an entire stint, mental strength.

Lewis trumps nico by a wide margin in everything aside from pace over a single lap. Alonso trumps kimi over everything. Then again kimi is no doubt worse than rosberg one would assume. So hard to compare lewis v alonso through such an example until they either race against each other or have had the same team mate at some point for us to compare.

Toil, do you feel bodily pain when LH is not in the center of attention here?
Do you really need to start in every single thread the discussion how your Lewis is beating the **** out of Rosberg??? It really is starting to get boring, this forum is not all about Hamilton but on F1 in general!

My rating of the best: probably Alonso. Although difficult to judge from the couch due to the lack of a great car in the last years apparently everyone in the business rates him best so it might be true..Followed by Vettel and Hamilton

Ricci is very good, he proves it not by beating vettel but by his racecraft...and so does nico hulkenberg...between them, Alonso ham, Rosberg, kimi and vettel it´s hard to know.
I believe Ricci is better than both merc drivers, he hardly makes any mistake, he's bloody quick and a great overtaker...he is clearly the man of the year. About Kimi i can't judge him on this year, everyone saw what he did with lotus, he simply cannot drive the FIAT....Alonso can but that does not make him better, it makes him better with the Fiat, but change the car and results will also change. Everyone knows Kimi has serious trouble when the front of the car is not a sprecise as he wants, give him that and he will probably destroy the oposition.
