There is no room to tap a pipe or sleeve, cant even fit a hammer in there.

so, I am making a collar/pipe to ride on the bearing face, and then a slotted bar, using the existing holes in the differential case to press the collar/pipe onto the bearing and push it (gently) into place.

when done I am planning on selling this device for a fortune on ebay.

Very slick.......but before you go to all that trouble, have you tried simply tapping around side-to-side with a slender punch / nail set ?

Yes, i did. You can barely get any force on it due to the space limitation, and i didnt want to f anything up.

I do have a sinking fear that pulling the carrier off with the jack screws wasted the bearing.....

here is a dumb question: when I turn the axle from the other side of differential, the bearing in question doesnt rotate/spin, but the inside shaft does....hard to explain, maybe i will post a youtube video, but somehow I though the bearing should rotate..

when you turn the differential from the other side, the only part that moves is marked with the red arrow. It rotates around, while the bearing doesnt move at all....

With all the jalpa owners out there looking to do this task with the engine in the car, I will probably patent it
