Last week I acquired a 1966 330 GTC. I'm very excited to join the ranks of those serving as custodians of classic Ferraris. I'll miss my 2007 F430 greatly, which is leaving to make space in my garage and appease my wife, who thinks three Ferraris is a bit ridiculous (I still have my 2010 California). But I had a great 150 mile drive on Saturday in my "new" old car, and it was exhilarating and involving in a totally different way than my F430 was.

My GTC needs a little sorting out and a little attention, but it's a pretty clean driver - and I intend to drive it! It will visit Patrick Ottis at the end of November and he'll take care of her for me. In the meantime, I'll be running it around the East Bay learning its peculiarities and enjoying the wonders of a a Ferrari V12 and manual gearbox.

Congratulations! Nice looking machine. What's the best part about driving the "old" as compared to the "new'? How does the cabin smell compared to the "new"?

    ~Ciao and best!

How about the row of toggle switches with the cryptic labels? Even if you know the Italian words they represent they are not easy to decipher and use quickly.

Glad to see that you saw the light about the old school cars. Well done.

    Very nice car.

I really like the difference between my 330 GTC and the 599 GTB

You have to remember, when you get into the GTC, that it is nearly 50 years old,
so don't expect the GTC to act like a new car.

If you think of this, you will have a great experience---comparing the old with the new.

Simply a stunning car. All the chrome trim, and those, wheels... Stunning, beautiful! Good for you.

I really like how the older cars have fairly clear glass rather than the dark tinted glass on modern cars. You can see inside! The beautiful interiors, wood steering wheels etc. I plan to join this classic club one day too.

Anyone else out there like the clear glass, or am I odd on that one?

One more thing. With newer cars there is always a newer one coming out. 599 topped by the F12 for example. With these old cars the just get better with time. Nothing new is going to have the look, the feel, the smell of these old cars. Im in hong kong and you see lots of new Ferraries. I dont think ive ever seen a clasic old one. Again, way to go on this one.

I agree about the glass too, but not just the tinting, I also think the outward visibility is generally worse with newer cars, I guess it's why a lot of them offer back up cameras. I think a lot of newer cars carry the tight cockpit concept too far, or maybe they need to with all the airbags and electronics that need to be packed in. Notice how much glass there is in the GTC, it really makes the car feel open and light, thin pillars and low window sills blur the line between inside and out.

I like the clear glass but you can really tell why they went to tinted when the sun is shining. With the clear glass and all the mufflers I hardly ever use the heat.

I did already. Sold the new ferrari. Now have a Ferrari 365GT and 2 etypes. Series 1 and 1.5. I am in love with the old cars. I like the new ones. Just wish I bought more old Ferrari's when the prices were reasonable.

Congratulations. I had a good look at that car at Fantasy. It is old but they need to be driven so please don't be shy get the rpm up, 6000+ rpm in 3rd gear is wonderful. Do you know about FOG? If not you should join and go on their monthly drives. A great bunch of people. Enjoy that wonderful car and I agree with other people here that Patrick will take good care of the car.
