The last 2 LM america's i was trying to buying were in $110 range restored. That was last year. I want the houston truck, but it has some god awful mods to it. Including the bad red and black seat covers Plus i agree their is a abundant amount of oil splatter on the bottom of that truck. I email the sales man, expressing my interest in the truck. I got a F U price back. I replied with my offer and no response since. Their are only a few (small few) who are in the market for a LM and when they come a for sale they either sit till the one guy comes along or they go to all the auctions paying a fortune in shipping to get advertising. Ether way i still want the houston truck, just need it for market prices not what he thinks is a 1960's ferrari, escalation market.
I'm surprised they didn't pressure clean under the truck but the good thing is it shows there's a few large oil leaks that need attention for a potential buyer.
Black and red seat covers are easy to redo, it is the mechanical stuff that You have to be very careful of. I retrim the whole car for less than $7K in nappa leather (including labor). Gearbox and transfer case are probably NLA by now, tires are available at $$$, clutch is available IIRC same as Ford F250 trucks, ECU is $10k a pair (if they are still available)... better use Haltech, Motec, etc. Engine gaskets and seals stock are OK.
I used to own that LM truck, (the one in Houston). I sold it approx 6 years ago to a buyer in South Cali. He did the interior changes and a few other things to it. It recently sold, via him, through the Auctions America in Burbank, CA earlier this year. I spoke to a person intrested in buying this truck last week, (he noted on the CarFax that it was onwed by me). After a few exchanges, he advised that he was buying the truck and had placed a deposit down on it??
Still waiting for the Haltech person to show up to sort out the ECU set up , still way down on power and going into limp mode when more than a third throttle is used. It's been 3 weeks now.
I am missing the interior roof light. "plafoniera luce di cortesia interna" The hole is about 15.5 x 3 cm Which car does it came from ? I am guessing Fiat, Alfa, Lancia, etc. Any leads will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Two digital fuel pressure meter also has arrived today, with programmable alarm. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My mechanical oil pump from the engine to oil cooler is not working properly, I think I will replace it with electrical fuel pump with thermostat switch, ON at 91 Celcius and OFF at 73 Celcius. It is quite small (13.7 cm long and 6.4cm diameter), should fit easily in the engine bay. // WELDON RACING PUMPS // High Temperature Oil Pump Kit -- Weldon Racing Pumps Anyone has any comment about this oil pump brand ? I don't have Photoshop in this PC ... but it will look something like this Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks D, It is actually 95% finished, a couple of things to do : 1. Aircon compressor needs to be re-installed 2. ECU tuning 3. Interior carpet
Hi Taffy, I was trying to get confirmation of the fuel pressure on the internet & you come to my rescue without me even asking, thank you, mine was at 2 bar, and the motor was stumbling (understandably), the filters under the hood are new, but according the parts manual there are gorse filters in the bottom of the tank - my tank is nearly full!!!, on inspection there are also filters before the pumps, these are the original Fiat items & completely blocked, a point that might be of interest, the 290 litre fuel tank is actually just under 200 litres, thank god because I was running out of places to put the fuel. I am sure the interior light is Alfa, I will send the dimensions to a couple of suppliers in the UK to see what is available.
Nick , we've gone a bit over the top from normal on engine parameter measurement (fuel pressure and EGT) but it's going to be very useful for trouble shooting and tuning in the future. Fuel pressure monitoring was a lesson I learnt from doing jungle competitions in Jeeps , it was a fabulous way of pin pointing a fuel or ignition problem as sometimes the symptoms can look the same Fuel pressure monitoring for something like a Lambo would be a good addition , 2 gauges on the supply side for each bank and one on the return all in the engine bay for simplicity or you can go real time monitoring with gauges in the cockpit. We also found with this set up that one of the brand new fuel regulators was faulty which would have been hard to guess.
"the 290 litre fuel tank is actually just under 200 litres," "ahhh Lambrusco" they built it after a very long Italian lunch
