That's a Catheram 7 they let you drive for 1100 pounds though. Still yeaterday this option wasn't on the website so who knows, give it a couple more days...

Only don't think 10000 dollars would cut it, more like 2 or 3 times as much based on other prices. You should contact them, maybe with a few more interested. I'm sure for the right price they'll do it

Maybe start your own crowdfunding page?

Apart from sticking 2 fingers to the F1 establishment, I cannot see what Caterham hopes to achieve by attending the next race.
Is that to be considered a farewell party?
I would be surprised if they are on the grid in 2015, and that is what really matters.

    We shall see I guess.....

But, their making it to Abu Double is *hugely* significant; They're all 'allowed' to miss two races due to force majeure or whatever. Miss three, and you're in breach, lose the entry and so on.

Their entry is worth a lot - Probably pretty much all they're worth right now - but having it for next year, along with their ovens, tunnel, tooling etc etc has value. At least for someone who wants to get in the door.

Personally, I'd love to see them not only make it, but score a point or two (two or four I guess ;)) - Would give them some Bernie bucks, which is again significant for any new owners.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Another 'fool & his money' maybe?..... ;)

Otherwise, they're gone forever. Seems even the administrator agrees; apparently, there's been some 'serious interest' shown in the operation.

I'm (certainly ;)) no Gene Haas, but I know if I were looking to get into the shark tank, I'd give them a serious look-see. It must be easier than starting from ground zero after all.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Aspirin for a head shot.

Does anyone expect them to be viable even if they scrape through this?

    ????

I'd say more viable than a (albeit nice looking) empty factory in NC. Given a (huge) injection of capital, why not?

Again, the trucks, shipping containers, infrastructure, computers etc are all in place. The cars themselves may be ****, but that's 'easily' fixable with enough money...... ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    I doubt it.

Apart from their "intellectual properties" and a F1 entry, I suppose they have no assets (tangible assets like my accountant used to tell me).
Everything they "have" in terms of premises, facilities, vehicles, equipment and tooling is probably rented, leased, borrowed or on credit.

Tony Fernandez really left with nothing, I guess.

Try and be delicate. No one gets it.
    ;)
Aspirin for a bullet to the head.
I was asking about Catrrham not Haas.

    +1

Trouble there seems to be Tony left them in about that much debt. :(

But, as I said above, it's still got be slightly easier to buy them, even with all that debt, than starting from scratch.......

    Good luck guys!

    Ouch!..... Like that'll help. ;)

    Understood.

I really wish him well. And he's certainly smarter than most. But, I still can't help thinking he'd be much better off to buy these guys (or even Marussia) than going it alone in Charlotte.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    "Hope springs eternal"......

All of these minnows come in believing they can do better than the others minnows at the least. Haas has even said (something like) "a podium in the first three years would be great"....

Err, Gene, doesn't recent history tell you a ****ing *point* in the first three years would be awesome? And that's with points being handed out like confetti versus the 'good old days'. ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Again, understood.

I just maintain he's got a better shot taking them over than going it alone in NC.

I don't want to loose another car manufacturer so Caterhams demise is sad.

That said I can't wait for Haas. I bet this team will rock and create some much needed boost to F1 in the US
