My 550's window sticker says Luggage Set Blue Connolly. The luggage disappeared along the way down the car's ownership line. I don't care, though. I bought a car, not a trousseau.

Below is from the Schedoni website. For someone like me who doesn't have a tremendous knowledge of Ferrari, I would (did) interpret this as they still work for Ferrari. I now see the words "past clients" which makes the statement legitimate. Thanks again Terry for keepin' it real.

"In addition to Ferrari, Schedoni also counts the most prestigious car manufacturers from Italy and abroad among its current and past clients: Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Pagani, Audi, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, VW and Morgan. or which it produces custom fitted luggage sets, colour box, leather goods for merchandising collections. All the items distributed through these car manufacturers’ sales networks."

    Hi Patrick,

I wouldn't worry too much. Your set looks great, has the proper yellow covers with the prancing horse, and I do like the "550 Maranello" embossing (would have liked that on my set as well). As Taz says, they might very well be original, as apparently Ferrari changed the manufacturer in 2000. All I can say is that my set was delivered with the car in August 2000 and they are Schedoni, have no "550 Maranello" embossing, and have the prancing horse debossed (thanks Tex!). But that doesn't say yours are not original as well. I would be happy with a set as yours, and the price you paid was pretty good.

Just the hoop right? Not a full cage. A leather wrapped hoop was an option on the Euros when combined with the sport seats and harnesses. Usually with the FHP.

If I could get the specs/drawings, maybe I could duplicate one...

If you're going that route, you don't need the specs. You just need a good fabricator to make the bar and weld in the proper base plates and an interior guy who can order the leather do the proper stitching. It's not rocket science.

Taz has a good suggestion though. However, be sure you want to do that. On a 550, I don't know if it's the best way to go.

GS- Ferrari is likely not going to give anybody the drawings, but they already told you everything you needed to know in the description. The rest is just measuring.

Can't "Duplicate" without drawings, specs or an existing example.

GS- They told you what diameter tubing they used, plus the thicknesses. All you have to do is make your own drawings with some cardboard or broomstick templates.

Of course you can. Your 550 isn't any different measurements than anyone else's is it? Ferrari gave you all the info you need.

EDIT: Oops, I see Taz already mentioned that.

    Ok...ok...ok...Let me brain storm this...:)
Still don't know the upright angle change for the main hoop overhead.
Is the 40mm tube measurement O.D. or I.D>...includes the wall thickness?
I realize I can build any ole roll bar, but I would prefer to duplicate an original.

Wow! You did good if the luggage is genuine Schedoni. I've been looking for a set for my 575M for several years myself. What internet auction website did you find your luggage on?

IF you are that concerned with getting it absolutely right... just buy the factory part.

40mm tubing I.D. or O.D. I would be pretty confident you are only going to find it one way on this side of the pond.

I would think for the time and effort involved especially after leather wrapping it you might save about 1500 bucks.

Me personally... id spend the extra and get the factory part. But thats just me

Yup, the real thing. Found it on Lauritz.com - Auctions of art, design, antiques and home luxury

They do sell quite a few Ferrari watches etc but rarely bags. I guess it is more common on Ebay. If you know Italian language, there are "Ebay-versions" in Italy where they sell quite a lot of Ferrari stuff.

This is definitely a case of caveat emptor, when trying to source original luggage

Historic's at Brooklands Auctions (absolutely no affiliation) in UK specializes in collectables and car auctions - sometimes they have a set - here is one from Nov 2013 sale - sold for about $3K (but still under the estimate btw) dunno about added shipping costs, auction fees, etc - pushing the hammer price up?

Historics at Brooklands - Specialist Classic and Sports Car Auctioneers - Lot 165

Really nice color and quality, maybe a chatter bought this and can post photos as a predicate for these issues.
