Anyone come across this and if so is there a simple fix? Coming up on the dash and to go to the dealer but dont want to spend a fortune if there is a simple fix! Any idea's suggestions welcome!

Hi Taz, sorry just seen the reply as have been off for a while having a Hip replacement! Car starts and drives fine, i think when i lock it after the first beep there is an extra beep , maybe saying there is a problem. Car is not being used at the moment but i need to get the lower ball joint rubber done so when i take it to a specialist i will get them to look at it

I'm having the same problem. It started after I changed the battery. Before I changed the battery I couldn't exit the car because the windows wouldn't lower to allow the door to open. The car will start, and everything seems normal, just get the annoying alarm system failure message. I tried cutting power to do a reset. Any ideas? Terry?

Jerry- Should be an easy fix for the dealer with an SD3. Could just be a door/window microswitch out of alignment. Good news is if she starts, it is a minor problem for both of you.

Independent shop used Leonardo to diagnose a bad ultrasonic sensor (interior motion sensor). Good news: Ricambi has it; bad news it's $1,100. If I push the motion sensor deactivation button before I exit the car and set the alarm, the error message doesn't come on. Surely, some other car uses this motion sensor and its not $1100.

Jerry- I would make a good attempt to ensure the connectors do not have a problem first. If the individual components can be identified, it is probably possible to replace those. Likely standard components except the housing. Possibly $50 worth of electronics in a $1300 piece of plastic.

    Hi

I have the same "Alarm System Failure" message on start up on my 599. I was told by the Ferrari dealer it was a faulty interior motion sensor and required the complete roof module replacement. I removed the module and there were some suspect dry joints on one of the circuit boards. I then spoke to a company called Cluster Repairs UK Ltd (www.clusterrepairsuk.co.uk) and they said they could investigate and likely fix the problem for around £150. They specialise in repairing dashboard displays so hadn't worked on this module before but they seem the type of company who can take on any electronic / circuit board diagnosis and fix. Not got round to taking it in yet as the car drives fine.

I had the exact same problem on my 612 (faulty internal motion sensors). Managed to get a used interior circuit board for £80 on eBay. Works a treat. I did try replacing the ultrasonic transducers beforehand, but to no avail.

Certainly be good if there’s a company out there who can refurb broken ones. Think I still have my old one somewhere if anyone wants to try fixing it.

Aye, will take some photos of it when I get home in a few days. It’s badically the circuit board behind the alarm buttons.

Ok, here there are. First photo shows the part I purchased off eBay. I bought a tan one as not surprisingly it was the cheapest one about. Doesn’t matter as the circuit board I needed is the same for all. To remove this part from your car, just pop out the interior light, then there are a few screws behind that to get the unit out.

Second photo is of the back. You can see there is a Ferrari part number and a TRW part number. TRW supply all kinds of car parts to many car companies. Note the two screws you need to remove to lift out the circuit board carrier.

Third photo shows the circuit board carrier removed. You’ll need to unplug the two ultrasonic sensors and the switch cable to remove it fully.

Then just pry back the tabs and pop out the interior alarm driver board. This is the cookie that seems to go bad. Replace with your good one, and slot it all back together.

As it happens I did have reason to think the fault might just be a bad ultrasonic transducer. I replaced them first though with some transducers from another alarm module made by TSW- from an Alfa 156 if memory serves. The board in that was different, but the sensors were the same. Anyway, he replacement transducers didn’t do the trick. Also below I’ve taken a close up of the part number for the board that goes bad. There’s a chance that it’s shared with another car, but I never managed to track down an equivalent part.

    Enjoy.

Does this happen as a software fault or hardware failure ? Seems to happen after battery replacement
