Thanks for that and fingers crossed for hopefully our final Dyno exercise.

Meanwhile, after trying a number of sizes, we finally have, I think, the correct style and sized labels.

Good morning Tim how are you mate?

That post/info peaked my curiosity. Those latter cars, me thinks, were running stock ECU's or were running aftermarket EMS's that cannot compare with the capabilities of your current M800, or is it the M880?, and the current turbochargers and waste gates (which you have) but I digress so I will get to the point. With proper tuning aka dyno time you should be able to meet or even exceed the horsepower and torque numbers you desire within that 7,000rpm range.

I ask these questions as more of a learning platform for myself with no intent of wanting to sound like my can of beans is overflowing, one bean falls out and my IQ takes a drastic dive.

    Cheers.

It might help to have another person over look the tables in MoTeC.

Just finished up drag car for a customer, made awesome power on the dyno, but would not build boost for the anti-lag. After about a week of hair pulling, turns out a simple "2" and "3" were missing from an obscure table. Good ol' MoTeC

Thaks Gregg, that would make my day if we can achieve that. Now looks like next week before we might be in shape for the next attempt.

I finally caught up on this thread after not having gone through it since last November. Such an amazing job those fellows did. Thanks again for allowing us to see it all.

I'll keep after it from now on!

Our new specially built and modified turbos are ready and will be fitted next week and then we can return to the Dyno. All the work is being carried out by Mark at Owen developments and you simply could not get a more helpful service from a company that seems to be the leader of the pack here in the UK working for, amongst others, the Honda Racing team, championship rally teams and various BTCC winning teams including the 2013 championship winner.

I just hope he is right in his diagnosis, which makese logical sense, but we do feel in safe hands. Also, seeing as how it is a no foal no fee arrangement, nothing much but time to lose.

Oh, and they have also been Zircotec treated as you can see in the casing finish.

    Tim,
Awesome thread; i admire you for taking on such a comprehensive project. Regarding the turbos, did you consider some of the newer generation with variable geometry (porsche uses these with success). It is said to lower significantly the spooling time. No a specialist here, just curious...

Not viable for High output gas motors.

EFR or other newer technology is where to spend the beans.
Im confident that Owen takes Care of meeting all the needs!

    The results are in.

Well over 700BHP and at a limited 22psi boost which, if my internet converter is to be believed, is only 1.5bar. We have also rev limited ourselves to 7,500, although the power was still building and again these cars raced with a higher limit. Clearly, we could easily get more if we wanted by either revving higher or ramping the boost as LMs raced with 750HP, but according to one chat I had with Cristiano Michelotto, that mandated a crankshaft change every 5000Km from memory. I don't want to go there if I can avoid it.

As we know the car raced with 720 HP, we have very conveniently and coincidentally effectively matched the race performance but hopefully without placing such strain on the internals as they were running more boost. The other good news is that we now have full boost from 3,800 revs as opposed to 5,000 before with the larger turbos, so the car should be far livelier and more driveable.

All very satisfactory and exactly where we wanted to end up.

Excellent results Tim, especially having the boost up further down in the rev range. Should still give you a very healthy kick in the behind when those turbos spool up :D

Do you have any dyno prints, with both torque and power on the same graph, that you want to share with us?
    Great results with new turbos!
Any specs on them? Or something they can be compared to sizewise?
Have you had a chance to drive with these new turbos?
