There is also an F in the name that we drop as needed regularly. No biggie. But we probably wouldn't drop the F in F40... F355 Berlinetta. 360 didn't have an F or a B... Then the marketers at Ferrari went back to the F in F430 but still no Berlinetta (maybe because Berlinetta means small...) I think the reason we all go with gtb as slang is the marque's naming history: 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso 250 GT SWB Berlinetta 275 GTB 275 GTB / 4 275 GTB / C 365 GTB / 4 365 GT4 - Berlinetta Boxer 512 BB - Berlinetta Boxer 308 / 328 GTB - Gran Turismo Berlinetta 308 / 328 GTS - Gran Turismo Spider 348 TB (Transverse gearbox Berlinetta) and then GTB 348 TS (Transverse gearbox Spider) and then GTS 599 GTB Always fun. Thank you for the info Robb! I guess that makes my username pretty unique, since it's of a product that doesn't exist!
I was just recently schooled on this FACT Dave by Steve and I won't be using the misnomer again. Much as I won't call a manual a six speed. We own one of three 355 models. A berlinetta, a GTS or a Spider. 😏
They weren't labelled GTB you are right. Interestingly however, the importation letter I received from FNA references the car as "Ferrari F355 GTB" so it can't be entirely unacceptable.
The letter is required as proof that a car meets US DOT and EPA standards before it can be imported. (in this case from Canada). May not be good to post the letter in it's entirety but this should do- Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is Great! Thanks. Glad to know that we are all on the same page with Ferrari on the nomenclature. Looking forward to your car arriving. Robb
One more question about the ride height. Don't you think that the front of this car is sitting higher than it should? Does the f355 have adjustable coilover perches? Do you think the previous owner probably adjusted it that way so he won't scrape? I also think that it doesn't have any negative camber - like most f355 do and it has a bit of zero or positive which it could as well be the result of raising the front up. One more thing, is the stock f355 coming with Koni sport shocks? Do you guys typically see failures with the electric actuators at the top of the shocks? Does it have sport and normal or more than one modes? Is it a big difference between the setting? Btw no need to say anything about the front plate it's hideous and the first thing that goes as soon as I get my hands on this car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They're adjustable and the us ride height is higher than euro ride height, which is probably why it looks high to you. I'd suggest leaving it until you're used to the nose, otherwise you'll be dragging it on everything.
I think you right, the more US F355 I see for sale they more the look a bit higher at the front that I think they should be. Any input on the suspension (soft vs hard) Is it a big difference? Do this things fail all the time or they overall reliable?
