voted "red" , wie Du weißt, Adrian ;-)
Beige/black seems to be correct for a black interior. The trunk color depends on the interior (carpet) color, and beige/black seems to be the default for a black carpet/interior, at least from what i've seen.
Bit of progress, we are getting a step further wih the production planning but would need a sample of the original red carpet in a good to very good condition. Could anyone supply me with a sample at least 10x10 cm? The sample can be returned later on. Cheers, Adrian
Working on it, getting closer but not there yet With a bit of luck we might be able to go into production in the next weeks.
No one who could provide a sample in red? If we start on the production i would need a sample in the next two weeks to match the dying of the red yarn. I already have access to beige/tan (thanks to Fave) and blue (thanks to Antonio).
Well, i aim for like >90%, exactly the same will be quite difficult without the original equipment and yarns.
Well if you come close I will probably buy a set anyway. Mine is good but have one piece that is stained. I have had very little success cleaning this stuff and the dirtiest parts are glued in........ If I dont use my set or material I will save it for some other soul!
I'm in as well; the original was removed by PO and replaced with a set that matches the interior carpet, so alhbln's >90% is about 200% better than what I currently have.
Have you contacted some of the restoration places like Reoriginals, Superformance, Dino Parts, Ted Rutlands. I would bet that since it is so rare and they're no longer available that they might be interested also. I know some of places like re-originals sells material by the square foot. I can't believe they would not be excited that someone was going all this effort. From some of the prices on some of the sites it seems they make quite a bit of money off this kind of stuff....
*** I am still looking for a good RED/BLACK carpet sample! Without one i'll have to fall back *** on producing just beige/black and blue/black carpets...
Talked to Colin @Superformance a week ago, he seems to be interested so that might cover Europe. Did not talk to anyone else yet except Strictly Ferrari regarding the US. I do think that all these places should be quite interested given the increase in GT4 prices and visibility, but first i need to do my homework and get something esthetically pleasing produced
No one with a sample for the red/black carpet type? Without a sample i'm only able to produce the beige/black and blue/black trunk carpet (and i'm most probably not going to do a second batch considering the work involved So, anyone wanting a red/black carpet, please help in securing a carpet sample for the yarn production, i want to start with the carpet in the next two weeks.
Don't forget to vote in the color poll (if you haven't already). It also helps keep a count of the number of interested parties. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/468451-gt4-carpet-poll-what-carpet-color-would-you-buy.html
Happy holidays everyone! I just bought 260 pounds of yarn, the yarn dyeing for the trunk carpet production starts in january Last chance to send me a red/black carpet sample!
Thanks for the great news, Adrian! One question... is there a recommended material (and source) for the edge binding as the new carpet pieces are cut to fit?
Haven't started on that yet, will have a look after the carpet production. The edge binding is made out of black artificial leather/vinyl with a bit of grain, should be easy to source.
Samples of the beige, blue and black yarn came back from the dyeing, the photo does not really capture the colors but the yarn looks pretty much like the carpet samples would have looked like when coming from the factory. At least something tangible after several years of searching, whew Image Unavailable, Please Login
