Domani would not allow for test drives. One guy posted around 2008 that it had a huge oil puddle and when his girlfriend closed the door the front lens fell off the car. They were shooed away from the car then within a week the car was sold for cash to the bozo in Idaho for $130k (cash) and subsequently registered in Montana to avoid sales tax with the plate "If Only". There's more to this than I'm willing to post in a public forum. Every time this car comes up on a countach thread it simply pisses me off.

Whoa! Good to know, I don't intimately know the car or owner, I just saw it for the first time at a local cars and coffee, along with his white LP and white Diablo, white every Lamborghini apparently. I can say it looks nice again, sad its past is such a sorted one.

lol, I dunno if he has one of those!!! I was torn between going the LM route or a Countach for years. A white LM002 would simply be gorgeous. A neighbor of mine in the late late 90's had one in Santa Monica with script on the rear tire reading "Humm this Bi@#h" ha! this was when the H1 was virtually taking over out there. And I don't know he is representing his white anni as being that low of miles, I just peeked my head in and saw the KM's, I have never spoken to the gent. Such a small world these cars live in, he seems like a nice guy that just loves his Lamborghinis in WHITE. :)

If you have ever wanted one, better add it while they are still - relatively - cheap. I've seen a recent BIG jump in them also.

I spoke with Lamborghini Houston on their black one currently running on Ebay, and if I'm correct the reserve is somewhere around 250k-275k. Taurean Bull I cannot agree more, the rarity of them alone is stunning and frankly I was amazed they stayed where they did value wise for so many years. I can see these becoming big with the kids of the 90's in said countries with endless dunes to frolic in ;) I got my Countach and a G wagon instead but do SO long for an LM002USA.

Owner lived in NE Oregon. Passed away a little bit back and the son inherited it. We were called on to do an appraisal for the courts on the pro-bate hearing. Neverheard anything after that, now appears to be for sale with a Dealer in Salem, OR...which is about 2 hours from where the car lived.

That is an acceptable price if its in great condition mechanically, interior and body. Very desirable colour combination.

Dan, you really think $525,000 US is a fair price?

Perhaps this is an example of why I can be forgiven for taking anything a Countach owner says about values with a pinch of salt.

    Let's do our homework.

    This car is Countach LP400S S2 1121254.

It is not a 1983 as the Ad says, it is a 1980.

No mention in the Ad that it no longer has the original engine.

The original unit was Turbocharged by the first owner John Robertson in Montana, USA.

It blew up, and was replaced with a de-stroked downdraft 4 valve unit from an LM002.

The next owner was David Kean from Calgary, Alberta.

This link has some information: Detail on 1980 *Lamborghini *Countach*LP400 S* 1121254

Here are some images of the car in past times.

I'll leave the appraisal to someone who sees the car in person, and has an experienced, balanced and professional outlook.

I was only responding to the person before who stated that it is worth it if it is good condition, low miles etc. I agree you need to examine any car with a professional before getting serious. I was basing the statement on the prices of anniversary models selling for over $400K

I understand completely Dan, and, I'm sure you also understand how your brief comment "I agree, fair price" will be read as '$525k is a fair price for this particular car'.

I also wanted to highlight the point I have been making recently about how people are simply getting silly with pricing. This is a world-record price for a S2. Does this car have world-record provenance to justify this? Is it in world-record condition?

After my recent comments online, Ive gotten literally dozens of PMs and e-mails in support of my position that we have to be responsible with the numbers, or the real buyers will turn off this model altogether. Some of those contacts have been from Countach owners themselves, worried that the out-of-control asking prices will sour the market. If we are not careful, the Countach market by it self will independently self-correct irrespective of other cars, and it wont be the first time a movement like that has happened in automotive history. Ive seen it in the Porsche & Muscle-car world, and now even in certain sectors of the Ferrari market.

I do feel the non-professional owners commenting on values is always going to be problematic, although its expected. But I also feel that the blatant "talking-up" can be minimized, and, yes, as you state, the appraisal (or support of asking prices) of these cars should be left to someone who sees the car in person, and/or someone who has an experienced, balanced, impartial and professional outlook.

By the way, allow me to point out: in the Countach market, values for the different variants are completely independent of each other and rise & fall at different rates and different times. The differnet variants go in-and-out of favor at different times, therefore 25th Anniversary values have nothing to do with LP400S S2 values.

#1121114, but has at the moment an aftermarket Bosch injection like the US cars, Owner is looking for the carb linkage to restore it back to original.

Hm, in that case what would a QV DD built on special Order for Patrick Mimran be worth?
-Hypothetical question since I don't want to sell but one never knows if someone comes up and wants her for $500K.

I'm with Joe, every model has it's own price range, but the more seldom the more worth is definitely not suitable for all models.
IME the S3 is nothing special, the LP500s has engine problems (casting sand), QV many were built, 25th even more.
The only ones which can justify their price tags are the LP400 and LP400 S1, but at which level...
