I am very excited to see all of my friends at the Holiday Party. As a brand new FCA member. I can only say that if I hadn't had the opportunity to get to know everyone at non FCA events. I would not have purchased a membership. This is s great group of people and the common thread of all of our love for the Marque just gives us something in common. I am even more excited for someone to go home with my newest painting.
Ben, you are an amazing artist. But more importantly you are a better person. We have raced together on numerous occasions. I am very fortunate to call you a friend. Thank you for everything you do for the club!! We are very fortunate to have you as a member. But, more impressive to call you a friend.
Oh, one more thing. Rob's earlier post regarding the wrong way to do things is a perfect segue to this additional request. Derrick, we would certainly appreciate if you could stop contacting the restaurant, representing you are the VP of the Ferrari Club and trying to do things like change the menu. Your attempt to sabotage the party isn't working. Your name isn't on the contract so please stop wasting the time who are trying to put this event together and ruining a good time for all.
I am looking forward to this party. In case anyone has not figured it out this chapter does an amazing job. It is astounding that Shawn can do a daily e-mail blast. I have invited Shawn to attend the FCA national board meeting to share what is happening in this chapter for the benefit of the rest of the club. Jeff
It is easy. Some "adults" acting like junior high kids tried to start some small fires against FCA DFW and Shawn. Like many kids they discover when playing with fire you sometimes get burned and possibly incinerated. To give credit to Shawn, he's stayed above the immature stuff, it was never mentioned on FerrariChat and he wasn't going around talking about it either. One of the kids started this thread and that was the first it hit FerrariChat. Remarkable because one of the complaints from the kids was not keeping all events private. This thread was first to mention the private FCA DFW Holiday party on the very public FerrariChat.com.
From my experience with running events with a different FCA chapter I will post on F-chat for public and private events. The private will make notice of the event but not give all the details. One cannot be sure that everyone reads all their e-mails or needs a reminder. One can also argue that non-members seeing the local activities will ultimately induce them to join/renew/return after an absence. Jeff
I agree with the approach, especially since I'm partial. I think our chapters down south in the South Central region have really missed out on their old school anti-FerrariChat approach. That's their loss though. A chapter needs a few public open events or you will never attract new members. The FCA needs to attract all the Ferrari owners from FerrariChat who have never joined the FCA or let their membership lapse because they didn't find any value added over their circle of friends and FerrariChat. I believe Ferrari enthusiasts should be members of FCA, FerrariChat, and subscribe to all they can like Cavallino, Forza, and FML. What does all of that cost to be fully covered? Maybe $200-250 a year?
Wish we could attend, but going with Dryhole to the Crystal Charity Ball. Hate putting on the tux, but they usually have a good entertainer performing. The Crystal Charity ladies are pretty amazing at fundraising, as they raise $5million plus each year to give to the non-profits they think deserve it the most. Did get a chance to see his new Huracan last weekend. Best looking Lamborghini I have seen in 20+ years. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'll be there, looking forward to seeing everyone. Thanks again to all the volunteers/partners/contributors who dedicate so much of their time to putting on these great events for us. It's a wonderful thing and a wonderful group to be able to associate with.
There is no possible way one person can run a successful chapter. This takes the input, time and dedication from everyone involved. We have members that have catered events at there own home. Rob, being one of them. Alicia, spends countless hours doing the flyers that everyone enjoys so much. We have members like Ken, he came up With the idea to go skydiving. ( Though something came up at the last minute and he couldn't make the event ). There are Chris and Jenn that handled setting up events and doing breakfasts when myself and Alicia couldn't be there. My point is this is a club of PEOPLE. Damn good people at that. These are just a few of the people that have dedicated so much to making it a success. So to all of them I SAY THANK YOU!! This club is in a way a family. There will always be issues in one way or another in a family. It is how we deal with the issues that defines us. Yes, most of the members are A personalities. But, that's what makes it interesting. As for the situation at hand. This is my solution: move forwards and not backwards. Let's do our best to make this the best chapter in the FCA. We have more then most chapters in membership, activities, attendance and dealer support. All of those things are because of our members. Not because of any one person. That being said, I hope everyone can attend the party and I hope we can all shake hands and leave the events of 2014 in 2014. (I apologize for the soapbox)
Jeff, that was the approach I took when I was this chapters president. Especially when runs came up on the event calendar. It works as I enticed many people to join the ranks!
Well put. We adore this club and all of it's members. We travel from Louisiana, 3 hours to attend Boardwalk events. Because of the kindness of this club, we are now members of the FCA. We don't even care about any FCA Events going on in our state (not even sure there are any), so we greatly appreciate all the Members of the FCA DFW accepting us with open arms! We are so looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
I was addicted to Don R's daily email blast when he was President and I am so glad Shawn kept the daily email going. And Shawn really stepped up to improve the legacy, adding his mark to the format and content while still keeping it personal... $0.02
I guess under FCA South Central Region Protocol 12.362.b we're now allowed to discuss the FCA event on FerrariChat. Jennie and I had a great time! Huge turnout over 50 people counting over 15 Ferraris and other cool rides. Ferraris Italian did an awesome job with the food quality, even considering how many of us they were serving at once and a banquet menu. Alicia and others did an awesome job with all the decorations. There were giveaways, which I won a framed Ferrari print. Shawn gave out thank you awards to event organizers and sponsors from the year, Jennie got one for allowing her house to host the Sebring watching party. It was an awesome year for the FCA DFW and this Christmas party celebrates the year perfectly. For those questioning FCA value any besides the Prancing Horse magazine, the discounts like 10% off parts at dealer, or the member only events... the chapter picked up the food bill last night! Each chapter gets a little of the membership fee and since Shawn had done everything out of pocket all year and hadn't touched the budget, there was some left for the Christmas party. Thanks Shawn and everyone involved! Thank you Rob, I am glad you came out!! Did Jeanie like her award? Lol. The final count was 70 in attendance. What a great night with great friends.
