You're lucky, Lou - you can probably get him to sign a copy in person the next time you're at Paine Field.

I believe the next -8 delivery will be in December. I'm off from now until Jan 10th, other than a 2 day NRT run in Dec. That may be our last -8, so I may not get back up there. Would be nice though.

Didn't find the link on kindle but here's the print version.

Great work Bob. I've been more of a lurker on your posts down here in aviation but have always loved reading about your experiences. Congrats on the book!

It took awhile, but I finally got around to reading your book, Bob, from cover to cover! (I had read snippets of it previously, but this time I took it all in.)

On a trip to Philadelphia last weekend to see a nephew graduate from Temple U. (he's not really my nephew, but I've known his family for so long that the kids all call me "uncle"), I decided to leave my portable DVD player at home and take the book instead. I got through about 60% of it during the trip and have been finishing it up every evening before bed since then.

I suppose that I particularly liked the last chapter since I lived that period at Boeing as well, not all that far from where you were at the time. I remember the 1992 anniversary celebration and I believe that I have that B-29 cutaway of yours in the commemorative book that was available at the time. (Now, all I have to do is find it!)

Some of the aviation nuts on this forum might complain about the stories about the times that you weren't involved in aviation, but since it is an actual autobiography, there's not anything you can do about that. I enjoyed the human-interest aspect, especially your story of the construction job with that fellow Levy. And you wrote all of this from memory?

I hope to attend Paul Allen's "SkyFair" at Paine Field on July 25. Maybe we could meet up and I could get you to autograph my copy. And if you do a sequel, I'll buy that one too!

Thanks, Jim. I will probably be at the Paul Allen thing with Dana so it will be good to get together with you again. Re the book. Yep, I remember a lot of things from way back but the brain is unfathomable because there are blanks in spots where I simply have no recall of certain short periods in my service days. I can remember a lot of Boeing drawing numbers from 1952. Figure that one out. A friend told me that I should have broken up my book into three books. I thought about it but couldn't face the extra work and it was about one life, anyway. Sales haven't been anything to crow about but then I haven't been able to promote it like the pros do. On the good side, I haven't had many reviews but all of them are five stars and I haven't heard any negative comments about it. I'm busy putting together a big display of my aviation art for the Boeing Centennial Celebration next year. So far I have 25 pieces , 7 originals and the rest prints. In between things I'm working on another book. Things are getting to the point where an itch has to be scratched by someone else. If I'm careful between now and June, 2016, I'll be 90 octane while Boeing will be 100 octane. That should be fun.

    Bob,
I was looking forward to seeing you this year at the fly in at Cawley's South Prairie or just driving up to meet you. Alas, I worked like a rented government mule most of the time I was there and then there was Glen & Gloria Cawley's funeral at Tahoma. I plumb ran out of time.

Glen was an aviation fixture in the Puget Sound region if not an icon and I'll miss him dearly. I don't know if there will be another fly in at this time, we kind of held this one per Glen's wishes and as a tribute. It had a near record turnout and a perfect day for aviatin'.

Tim, I was hoping that I could get down there but my wife was sick and we had some other things pop up.
I hate to see the gang thinning but as the years pass by I hear about one or two more that have gone west. I don't get around to the airports either like I used to so that's the way it goes.
