I think the upcoming auctions in january will only help prices and that will carry to late spring....after then it's anyone's guess....but "if" the bubble bursts, how fast will prices drop?? A few months? A year?

Who knows. It's like the stock market. Ups and downs. You take the risk and play.

But with the way things are going, your playing in a shrinking market. Not too many 20 something's are wanting an old gas guzzling car, no matter what the name is on the hood. This could be the last big bubble we see for a long time.

Times are changing. Cash in while the money is good. IMHO.

why you are all talking here from selling, buying, keeping because of the value?

I have my 512 BB and the TR for fun, to enjoy driving. I would never sell one and buy instead of those then a 360 or 550 because of the value. from those there are too much on the market. if I would buy then to enjoy the car, but there is nothing equal driving a BB or a TR. and I hate this sh-t electronic in the newer cars

That is crazy :). It's a great time to BUY 80's Iconic supercars for many reasons not just value …. and I'm pretty sure most that are on this forum wouldn't even think about a 360 or 550. Just MHO.

A 458 would be very tempting though.

You are not selling a mustang where garage space is an issue to sell in the spring over the fall.

High end products don't cycle based on seasons, if that were the case, the auctions that took place the last few months would never sell cars like this.

If the Testarossa goes up a few more dollars in the spring, it's because other cars have also equally gone up. If you want / need / like to sell , nothing like the present. Timing the market if like winning the lottery. The cars could easily also go down a tad this spring if a terrorist attack happens, or some crazy oil embargo.

Sell and buy these cars when you are best ready.

    Good luck !

Seasons do effect the size of the market. I do not get as serious to buy summer toys in the middle of a cold winter. I have to assume that is not just me, any shrink or growth of customers effects prices. May not totally dominate in the Ferrari market but I would imagine that spring or early summer is the ripest time overall.

Cough cough ... There was a study done , can't locate the publication.

A Ferrari testarossa in general targets the top 1% of the population. The 1% buy in all seasons and all conditions the fact that "you" get serious about summer toys in the summer is not the same analogy. Again, I made reference to the mustang, that is a summer toy and does not cater to the 1%.

If you want a triple black Testarossa, or a 512m and it comes up for sale dec 24th and priced right , guess what .... It's not going to sit until March 31st waiting for you and the snow to thaw ;)

Someone buying a brand new Ferrari/ used ferrari , or a woman buying a 5k Louis bag , or $1,000 shoes is not affected by the season , but rather trend. Though I suspect high heel shoes may sell better over the summer and close to feb 12th than other days in the winter ;)

IMO...What you really mean to say is
" Wolfs buy year round, Sheep buy in the spring"
    Just say it!
Or " He who hesitates , loses."

Actually the other philosophy works on common cars
Does not work on todays collectables!

I live in Maine, we just got a foot of snow on the ground so it throws a little bit of a monkey wrench into selling. No test drive, harder to take pictures for an ad etc…

I've never seen a white stick propping the front hood on ad before.

Damn I've got to say, I love what you just said. I totally agree 100%. Ferrari buyers aren't waiting for the summer clearance event before deciding to pull the trigger like they were shopping for a Honda. Please!

Wow, I'm not a fan, but DAMN , someone spent some serious money on that interior, between the seats, and door panels, not bad

Wow that wing is horrible! And plus, I really doubt it's very durable and functional, considering it's mounted to the freaking rear vents!

I'm not a big fan of that wing. Very unnecessary .

Lose the wing and extra horses and it may sell. Wheels are too bling for my taste too. Ugh.

Don't worry, you won't have to wait long, 100k entry is about to begin any day now according to the market.

I agree. Any nice TR that has less than 20 k miles and is under $100,000 will likely be due for a major service and have small issues. $70-80 grand is still possible but most will need $10-20000 in service to be fully sorted. Entry price is getting very close to $100k.

Sad in a sense for the car. But it makes me happy. The more I see these bastardized ones, the more I can only think my clean unadulterated car rises in value. Want to install a high mirror on the right side of an 85 or 86? Go right ahead!

This T.R. has been for sale for a while. I'm looking for a clean 512TR or T.R. private party. Not too much out there that fancy's the eye at a realistic asking price. If anyone is interested in selling their's (at fair market), please P.M. me.
