    +1.

No team mate has ever blown Alonso away the way that Vettel was this year. Hamilton matched him, but nobody ever outscored him by that margin.

I feel sad to see Fred leaving the team. Like many, I'm still not so convinced about Vettel. Just look at this year's results and see how he got whacked by his teammate in a car that was pretty crap (pre season there were already rumours of trouble).

However, on one hand, i'm disappointed to see Fred go..it feels like he's abandoning the team. he has given so much this last couple of years. Not once I've seen him give up even driving a real POS car. No complaints, just drive the wheels off! Which is why, i always think he is the best since Schumi retired. I really doubt any other driver in the paddock showed that much of spirited fight and commitment like how Fred did.

On the other hand, i feel happy and i know he's leaving probably because of too much politics within the team. He's pushing but the team is not going anywhere. Age is catching up, and he deserves another 2 titles at least before he hangs up his helmet. I probably would have done the same, if I were in his shoes.

I just hope Vettel can really live up to his name, prove everyone wrong, and together with the Kimster, take my beloved Scuderia forward. I don't think I can wait another 21 years for another WDC..

I do not know why everyone latches on to this season to rate Vettel??? What does this season say about the last four years?

Or let me ask that way:
Lewis Hamilton will win the next two years in a superior car easier than this year as his team mate never recovers from the lost first WDC. Then in three years the regulations change and the Mercedes will be far from being best because "who-ever" just made a better package.
Hamiltons car will not even run properly on the test days or the first race weekend. On the other side his new team mate who made a step up from an inferior team does win by chance the first race as "who-ever" has reliability issues, for the rest of the season this upcoming superstar will walk on clouds. Hamiltons relation to Toto Wolff and the team he spent 5 years will shows first signs of wear and tears and he thinks about leaving. Furthermore Nicole will give birth to their first child and in this bad career situation his priorities might change a bit. At the middle of the season he decides to leave to another team to get some new motivation after 4 WDC and at the end of the season he will finish 5th in the ranking...

What will be your conclusion? That this year (2014) and the 2 following will be undeserved and that Hamilton is actually overrated?

Sounds strange? Yes it does but this is exactly what you do with Vettel since a full year...Why don´t you give him a chance to prove himself at Ferrari before you and the others make a judgement? If you do so you even do not have to row back in case he will manage the unexpected, something Alonso never achieved: winning a WDC with Ferrari.

I am looking forward to see him racing for the Scuderia, even when I doubt that he will be nearly as successful as his idol.

Not so sure. Whilst he has ''turned'' a good deal of Tifosi who didn't like him, there's still plenty of us who dislike him. I've had moments in late 2012 and 2013 ish that I didn't really mind him, thankfully then realizing my moment of blindness and gone back to disliking him again. Ive never embraced him, I think he's toxic to the teams he goes to. Doesn't seem to get along with people; the only teams he seems to have left somewhat graceful where Minardi (why would they be unhappy) and Renault.
I was about to post that...:)
The above video makes me believe all will be right with Ferrari come 2016. 2015 might be a tough year still, I hope Kimi has made use of this year as an incredibly long test session and worked well with Allison to make the new chassis work well for Kimi and Vettel. Aero is the biggest uncertainty...Hopefully both drivers do well next year and Kimi is kept on beyond 2015. My 2 favorite drivers in my favorite team. Fingers crossed!!!

Cannot disagree with a single word; sorry to lose Fernando, wish him several more WDC's, he deserves them; also hope and pray that Sebastian will become everything that his fans believe he is.

Signs are good that by 2016 the team will be positioned to field a competitive car. At this point anything more than that is wishful thinking.

I hope Vettle to Ferrari doesn't turn out like Rossi to Ducati. Both parties were excited. Rossi could barely podium the bike on rare occasion and never imagined how bad it turned out to be.

Rossi finally bailed on Ducati and is back to winning MotoGP races at a ripe old age on the Yamaha.

Ducati an also ran still with softer tire choices and fuel consumption over 'factory' teams, running in the 'factory New York Teenage Easy Version' class.

    Sad.

What sad couple or so season for for Valley. I'm a huge MotoGP nut. When it comes to machinery, MotoGP is ten times as bad as F1. The disparity is so huge between the bikes. There's about 5 worthwhile laps to watch each race. Yes... there are a few exceptions, but MotoGP seems to be where F1 is heading if they don't fix some things by 2016.

I'm going to predict that 2015 is going to be just like this past season... I mean almost carbon copy. The only possible shakeup will be the Honda powered McLaren and the Merc powered Lotus. I don' t think Lotus has the chassis to make good on the power, however. Their car was a total disaster from the nose on to the asymtrical rear end which depending on who you read was either planned or not.

Mac is going to be the wildcard.

... like he did Renault, Alonso ruined Ferrari. Scorched earth in the wake of Fernando Alonso, Ferrari is left in tatters. Wonderful thing taking shape, the only thing missing with the Allison-Raikkonen-Vettel collaboration is, Ross Brawn.

Yet another fundamentally flawed car, 2015's is going to be another write-off, for Ferrari. If Ross Brawn comes back on board, 2016 will shape up for a pretty good year - asj.

I love this statement from Alonso on Vettel last year! They way Vettel was trounced by Ricci was outstanding. I think it was a very big mistake taking Vettel over Alonso as he ran away from his younger teammate. He left defeated... I wonder what Vettel's times are against Kimi in the F2012 and if Ferrari are now worried?

The situation with Rossi and Ducati is not quite the same as Vettel and Ferrari.

At the time Rossi went to Ducati, everyone was saying that only Casey Stoner could ride the Ducati and make it win because it was just too wild.

Some people had even started to suggest that Stoner might be a more natural rider than Rossi was.

Rossi went to Ducati to try to prove that anything Stoner could do, he could do as well, if not better.

However, as he found out, the Ducati really was that difficult to ride and eventually he simply had to give up trying to emulate Stoner (I suspect that deep down, Rossi gained a deep respect for Stoner's ability to win the Championship on such a wild, belligerent chassis).

In the case of Vettel and Ferrari though, he is not going there to try to match anyone or better them, he's going to Ferrari to fulfill a lifetimes dream.

With 4 recent WDC's already in the bag, I don't think he's as desperate as Alonso seems to be to win another one at the moment. I get the impression that he's happy enough just to be a part of Ferrari's F1 race history.

It's a bit like those of us who have dreamed of owning a Ferrari all our lives and then finally fulfill that dream by buying an older model - It doesn't matter to us that our cars are not the fastest on the road anymore, we're just happy that we own and drive a Ferrari!

Now just being a Ferrari driver will be fine for Vettel in the first year or two, but the ultimate goal for him has got to be winning races and hopefully, winning WDC's with them too!

The impression I get though is that should he not win a WDC with Ferrari, it will not be as much as a disaster for him as it seems to be for Alonso
